The lone time I saw Bob Log III was at Plush in Tucson in 2007. I'd had a few Long Island Iced Teas at a friends and they hadn't completely gone through my system yet. I made a right hand turn and instead of going into the first lane, I went into the second. Didn't realize prior to then that it's illegal (had done that countless times before), prompting the cop who had been following me to pull me over. I'd just spent a night in jail earlier that year for a DUI and really didn't need another so my neck started twitching uncontrollably due to my Tourette's. The cop let me go as a result, saying I had to call somebody to pick me up. (I don't recall blowing into a breathalyzer but my BAC must not have been over the limit if he was so nice about it.)

Is anyone else planning on going to that Metric show at the Marquee on October 10? Tickets are $28 before fees (although it does come with a free download of the album) and I know Jen's not going to want to attend. Holding off on buying a ticket at the moment pending who else is going to be there.

Very lucky. So many people in AZ have DUIs. I got mine in 97 after Incubus and 2 Skinny J's at Gibsons (Science tour). He was about to let me go when the people I was with started behaving like assholes. I take the rail or stay within walking distance since moving back.

Toto @ Talking Stick $53 Sept 23 w/o Bobby Kimball
Psychedelic Furs @ Wild Horse Pass Sept 27th $15-35.

At least the PF show is reasonably priced this time.

Already purchased my ticket so I will be there. Also, the code I got for the download said it was already used. I e-mailed them on Thursday and still no response. pfft.

Timestretch, I hope you got close seats for the PF show at WHP. I saw the Smashing Pumpkins there about a year and a half ago and was in the back. It sounded like absolute shit even though it was a brand new venue and fairly small. There is an overhang if I recall and it murders the sound if you are under it.

Glad to hear who's either going or considering going to Metric. I have to wait till this weekend to get my ticket but I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks for the info on Psychedelic Furs. $15 sounds good, though not if that means we'd be relegated to where Mark was for Smashing Pumpkins. That'll have to be a closer-to-the-show decision.

I may be going to that show. If I do, I'll be the one with the shirt that says "Fuck the Marquee".

    Also:

Dan Deacon, Crescent Ballroom, October 18th. No way. Noooo way.

Good call on the casino seating, Fax. It also looks like the upper seating is in a direct line with the PA. I do not want to be up there for any show with a sax coming out of the speaker. There's $25 tickets left in the left-front section and a few singles in front of the soundboard. Off topic, but someone should rate the casino buffets around here in the DDD thread?

We were down at the Monarch last week. It's similar to Bar Smith except a little wider and much deeper dance floor (i.e., no stairs in the dance floor) along with some booths. A lot more room! And the bar is much bigger. Sound was good, but I didn't really check out what their system was.

I thought they broke up? Saw 'em at the Clubhouse a couple years ago. Didn't think they were that great live even though I was a big fan of their last album.

Fax, looking at this picture, where were you when you saw Billy Corgan and his backing band? Were you on the floor and underneath the balcony, or were you in the back of the balcony?

There are precisely 2 singles left in section 102, but they aren't together. The one interesting thing is that the max price I'm showing right now is only $25, not the $35 listed earlier. Maybe that's the cost the day of.

YACHT were so much fun tonight. The 2 singers both went into the crowd a total of 3 times to whip the crowd into even more of a dance frenzy than they were already in. I started the night off in a really foul mood, even saying to Jen at one point that I was going to kick somebody's ass (lots of irritatingly inconsiderate assholes walking through us at the start without saying "Excuse me"), so for me to have ended up having such a good time was really remarkable. Y'all missed out!

Glad you enjoyed it. Did you buy the book of Yacht????

I'll be going to Menomena. I'm not sure if they ever broke up. I know one of the songwriters has another project, Ramona Falls, that have put out two albums. The second just came out in May??? It's similar to Menomena, but a little more diverse in styles. The guy that left was the better songwriter out of the group (IMO)---interested in more complex song arrangements than straight ahead indie rock tunes. I'm not sure if he is in both bands or just doing his new group. I Say Fever and Russia or the 2 popular RF songs.

---On second thought, I better listen to the new album before buying a ticket since I just hinted that they may have lost their best songwriter.

Also, Aeroplane is playing bar smith tonight if you're looking to get your dance on!

just got back from mark farina. of course i don't know any of you so i may well have looked some of you directly in the face and not known it.

first time seeing mark so i can't say where this set ranks against any others, but i danced my goddamn ass off.

first time at the monarch, venue was aight. nothing really fancy going on, the bass was a little dense and if you're too far in the rear you can hear a slight delay between speakers. nothing really to turn me off from going again though, crowd was great though.
