I was blown away by AC last night. I went into just a casual listener, but they made me a fan. The crowd was incredible, which I also didn't expect.
The energy at AnCo was phenomenal last night! I was a little worried when we got there and it seemed extremely undersold but it gradually filled in to a comfortable 3/4 capacity. There was plenty of room to be up close but still have room to dance and a dancy crowd it was. The setlist was solid, "rosie oh" and "father time" were a perfect warm-up for "What Would I want Sky?". I think they played every song on the new album that I had not already heard live. I would have chose some "applesauce" and "amantia" over "new town burnout" and "moonjock" but "crimson" was a nice surprise. The "monkey riches/brother sport" combo should be a staple at every show. It is almost comical at the end of the final breakdown in "brother spot" when you realize that they are still playing the same song. Purple bottle was an awesome way to end the night. I hope the rumors aren't true, I've been spoiled by the last 3 years !
Ezra Furman will be playing the Crescent Ballroom on Sunday Nov. 24th.
Ezra Furman & his new band the Boy-Friends are going on tour in support of their new album, DAY OF THE DOG. 2nd half of the tour will be with Tristen (she's fantastic) as support.

Come get destroyed. These shows are going to be wild.
Went to check out Destroid last night. They put on a pretty good show until all of the sound got shut off because there was too much smoke and the fire alarms went off. Stopped everything for 5 minutes or so which was awkward and sort of killed the energy of everyone.
That's the second time I've seen that happen at the Marquee, they need to figure that stuff out if they're going to keep having electronic acts and fill the room with smoke machines all night.

Thursday night get to the Crescent for Janelle Monae and come early for food and/or drinks/meetup.
Saturday night meet up at Carly's on Roosevelt for Pre-NIN Show meetup from 4-7pm. You can take the light rail to and from Central/Roosevelt (near Carly's) and it will drop you off in front of US Airways for the concert.
As much as I would like to make Cut Copy I can't. School tomorrow, Janelle Monae Thursday, NIN Saturday, Tycho Monday, Doug Stanhope next Wednesday, NIN Vegas next weekend, Pearl Jam @ Glendale Arena following Tuesday. Final Exams.

I'm sure everybody's already aware, but in case you're not, Janelle Monae is now playing the Marquee on 1/11. Saturday night show in a bigger venue. Still think it'll sell out? Oh, and all tickets from the Crescent show will be honored.
I know it is a long-shot, but I'm looking for 1 or 2 tickets to Chance the Rapper on the 19th. I can't find anything that says it is sold out, but I also can't seem to buy any online.
Janelle Monae tix purchased. Awesome.
