Dang, I knew the show was sold out, but I didn't think the crowd would be full of early arrivers. Showed up at 5:30 and the lot was already full. Lucked out and got a spot on the street just outside the lot. Line to get in stretched all the way to the convention center when I got here.

Hey, nyar, sorry I missed your pm, I didn't see it until this morning.

K-Dot absolutely destroyed Mesa Amp, I haven't seen a hip hop crowd like that in AZ in a long, long time. Set was awesome, the tracks off of Good Kid MAAD City translated exceedingly well live. I was surprised by his energy after reading he was lackluster in that department. He did a great job of keeping the crowd engaged throughout his set. Hopefully he'll, and I think he will, be back at Coachella next year because he really is the best new hip hop artist. Great performance, great crowd, good times.

No worries dylanja, maybe next time.
The show was great, but I was left wanting more. I think he played for an hour tops. Maybe its cause the show ended around 9:45; in any case, when he does come back, I'll be there.

Loved the show last night, but I also had that feeling of wanting more. Think it was due to the sort of abrupt ending. Also, I really, really hope he tours with a live band at some point in his career. After seeing Hova, Ye, Dre, Snoop and Lupe all with backing bands I just feel it adds so much more to a hip-hop show. His energy level was awesome though and I think that's why the crowd was so into it. The crowd was absolutely nuts during m.A.A.d City.

Will only see you at Savages. Otherwise, we have Peter Murphy next Saturday (guess it's not getting cancelled despite his arrest earlier this year), Depeche Mode on 10/8, and NIN on 11/9. That's in town; we've also got Bestival from 9/5 to 9/8, where we'll see James Blake and a variety of other acts (i.e. The Knife, Elton John, Fatboy Slim, etc.) who aren't playing Phoenix.

I kind of want to see Psychedelic Furs at Crescent on 7/15 but it's probably not going to happen unless we're able to get in for free. That week's probably going to be lousy at work, so staying out late + spending $30+/ticket isn't all that attractive.

Also Eisley is opening for Say Anything on July 10th At the Marquee. I might take my kids if I have $70 left that day.

If Titus have a new album coming out in November, I'm probably going to want to go to that show. Although we'll just have gotten back from England. Hmm.

Very excited for Pearl Jam. They better fucking play "Black."

Well, since it looks like that Liquid Sol turned out to be a bust, I guess we should keep an eye on this festival that is supposed to be happening in December somewhere in Scottsdale: http://www.truemusicfestival.com/

The festival promises to be the state’s largest ever multi*genre festival and will be held in the winter of 2013. According to our sources, the festival will be located just minutes from Arizona State University, Old*Town Scottsdale, and Metro Phoenix, at a highly reputable venue.
    ...
While festival promoters have been very secretive, rumors have been swirling that the headliners are some of the biggest names in music. Our sources also tell us there is a tremendous amount of capital being spent in creating this venture.

Has anybody else heard anything about this?

The good news is that we finally have all local shows on 620 with Doug & Wolf in the morning, Bickley and Marotta midday and Burns and Gambo in the afternoon. We are finally free of Colin Cowherd and Mike & Mike.
