90s retro shoegazy psych rock leaning towards the more pop indie rock stuff of the 90s. big guitar work, but not too dense or layered. you'll hear some swervedriver ride slowdive mixed with big drill car and maybe a little of some of the old jade tree bands. I enjoyed both of their EPs.

I've only seen Fidlar from the beer tent at FYF. I don't remember too much other than thinking it was ok.

I have been waiting for Pangea to come through Phoenix for the last year. There are so many great bands on Burger so I am sure this is going to be a great show.
Pangea played a phenomenal set to a mostly disinterested crowd. This band is going to blow up when they put out a new album in July. Everyone should be listening to them.

Pearl Jam is on that list which hopefully means they're looking at them as a possible headliner. That's all I care about at this point.

Tickets purchased. Just did GA -- roughy $65 for 2 after fees as opposed to $60 for 1 reserved seating ticket before fees.

Hey, btw, are you going to KMFDM on Tuesday?

Thanks for the suggestion. I just upgraded my Spotify account after discovering that it doesn't require an internet connection so I can listen to stuff outside of what I already own at work now.

That'd be great. I've never seen them and given up hope on them apparently ever being offered a slot at Coachella. When was the last time they performed in Arizona? It's gotta be more than a decade, yeah?

Oof, the first album that comes up under the band name on Spotify is a death metal band. Glad I did some digging around to see that Living Dummy is their most recent album & they had nothing to do with Hollow Heart.

Last time they played it was actually my first PJ show and that was June 7, 2003. I've traveled all over to see them since so it'd be great to not have to travel for a show.

the music rumor for the I just heard is pretty crazy. Please keep in mind I am only calling it a rumor because it comes from the person I know who works at the marquee and he can sometimes be iffy on info that isnt public.

No exact date but sometime in April (he even said from looking at the marquee calendar the venue is already booked to where 2 nights in a row has him scratching his head). But 2 nights, 4 shows total around $200 a ticket. Again I hope he isn't bullshitting or it doesn't fall through and don't shoot the messenger if it does. Someone said he hasn't played here in 15 years. And the fact that its April will likely start even bigger rumors. So that said. Without saying his name. The man in high heels who played Creep a few years ago at Coachella will possibly be playing those shows. My source said he will give me dates and such as soon as he knows he also said the artist may announce that info first depending on the contract.

So what you're saying is: Prince is playing the Marquee theater? That's.....bizarre.Or a great setup to an April Fool's joke.

Pretty much.... I guess we will find out soon enough if it pans out. I am wondering if I would pay $200 to see him there. Probably but not definitely. He should just play celebrity theater in the round.

I might be tempted to do Prince at the fucking Marquee, even for $200 a pop. That would be insane.

Weird that they added a 2nd Mangum show to start at 10. Guess we'll be getting home fairly early after all. Hmm, and I took the next day off in anticipation of the show ending closer to midnight.

Prince at the Marquee would be insane. Not that it really matters, but it'll be nine years on March 31 since he last played here. He played Glendale in 2004 on the 3121 tour. Would be awesome if this was true because I couldn't make that 2004 show.

Well that goes to show you how reliable this guy is with information. He's the one that said the last time Prince played here it was at US Airways almost 20 years ago. It's possible he just didn't know 3121 played here though. I didn't either. I just knew it was in Vegas for a long residency.

I will say if it is true, I can see the Coachella last minute add again. I say this because it certainly doesn't look like Coachella dropped too much money on headliners this year. I feel like they are sitting on a lot of cash.

Finally, bring Pearl Jam to Florence and i'll have a hard time turning down that festival. I haven't seen them in quite a while.

See, I mixed up the info too. It was the Musicology tour he was playing at the time. The one where ticket holders were handed a copy of the album at the show and caused Billboard to change the rules on what counts as an album sale. Would've been something, though, had he been touring a 2006 album in 2004.

Maybe in a sign of things to come, Green Day's preshow playlist last night included Kiss. Made me kinda chuckle hearing that being played in the Marquee since you had just posted the rumor a couple of hours before.

Was talking about this with others last night. I hadn't seen anything by him in a long while so I was watching some recent youtubes. Wow is he horrible these days. Also that band... who plays with him these days? They sound really bad. Alice Cooper is doing some dates with him this summer too. Tickets are gonna be like $60 for this marquee show? I don't think I can do it and I thought he was great in the late 90's. Saw him at least 4 times.

Guys guys guys guys guys guys guys from this forum thread. http://prince.org/msg/12/394370

I can confirm he's playing smaller venues (1,000 capacity-ish) and tix are going to be pricey. He's playing 4 shows April 30th/May 1st (2 shows per night) in Arizona. I haven't confirmed exact venue but I'm almost sure it's the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, AZ. Once I confirm venue, I'll post again.
Ok I've been informed of a few more details. The plan as of right now (and you know it could change at any moment) is to play 5 markets: Tempe, AZ (Marquee Theatre), Las Vegas, San Francisco, Portland, OR (Crystal Ballroom), and Seattle, WA (Neumos). Not sure of Vegas and San Fran venues yet. That's all I know now folks!! Should be awesome!! I hope he brings that Friday Dakota Show on the road b/c that would just f--king rule!
Sorry I can't reveal my source but let's just say it's extremely reliable. I know you really have no reason to believe me, but I wouldn't post info like this just to get everyone riled up. I've been a member since 2004 and I take info like this seriously. I depend on this site for info like this myself so when I became aware of those concert locations, I felt it my duty to share. I don't have anymore details now. Of course things could change at a moment's notice but from what I hear, plans are being finalized for those 5 locations now.
    all from the same guy

WHOA. those locations look suspicious as fuck to me.

Huh. Hm. I don't know what to think of all this. I guess I'll believe it when I see it, but the Marquee just seems SO WEIRD. Mostly because it's all black and grungy.

Also, two shows in a night? That tells me short setlists. He aint gonna be playing two two-hour back to back sets.
