We must have been very close. I was on the right side maybe 4 to 5 people back at most. I was probably distracted by the pretty red head chick who told me I was "awesome" though. There was a drunk person in front of us who eventually moved. She saw me give him the evil eye and it apparently won her heart over.

When EL-P first started I saw a big push in the middle and what I thought was going to be a small little mosh pit but you are right, if it's one drunk tard running into and shoving everyone around him then that's quite different than hipsters not wanting to be touched. It was a great a show regardless and too bad a douchebag or two made it a little sucky for you. I get that.

So I just purchased tickets for Pretty lights at comerica. they are all GA tickets. How does that work at a place with seats like that? You can just roam freely as you normally would at any other GA type show?

Usually GA at comerica is only the orchestra pit. Everything else is assigned seating. That is a terrible venue for that show.

I agree, even Cut Copy couldn't sell out the Marquee on a Friday night. I would love to see the Presets at the Crescent but I doubt that would happen.

It's so weird that we're talking about the Marquee being too big for the Presets when Pretty Lights is playing at Comerica Theatre.

I'd like to see Louis CK but am not sure if we like him to the tune of $90, especially with all the other shows going on & that being right before Christmas. (His Phoenix date is on my mom's birthday and we may not even be in town as a result.)

ha i mean really i know i threw together a nice multiple paragraph bitchfest but it was a minor gripe. i really can't recall the last hiphop show ive been to in phoenix where a fight didn't break out. show was fantastic.

ehh i dunno. louis is pretty much can't miss status for me. that and i really haven't seen a whole lot of live comedy. there isn't a single louis ck standup special that i don't find completely fucking hilarious.

I hadn't heard of either artists before yesterday and I had planned on leaving early but that EL-P set was really damn good. The sound in the Crescent is so damn good and the crowd was great. Killer Mike was all smiles and I loved his free styles. He worked that crowd over and I was so happy I went. I didn't get home untl close to 1am (I live super close). I'll see both of these acts again when they come through that's for sure. I need to get my hands on some EL-P now because his live show sold me.

I wish I would have gone to this. I just listened to Killer Mike's album for the first time this morning, it's awesome.

Both Lower Dens and The Men were great last night. I wasnt at all familiar with Lower Dens and was pleasantly surprised, they had good energy and put on a very trippy almost psychedelic set. I also really enjoyed No Joy. I really hate Sail Inn though. The mixture of the venue and lack of crowd energy put a damper on an otherwise excellent show.

I just wouldn't figure that the popularity gap between the two would be so great that Pretty Lights could be booked at a venue like Comerica (which has hosted the Cure, Arcade Fire, Fiona Apple, etc.) and not have anybody scoff at the venue being too big, while at the same time suggesting that a smaller venue would be too big for the Presets. Although I suppose Trentemoeller attracted 20 people last year, so perhaps that's an accurate picture of where each act is right now. I just recall the Presets having a packed ass tent playing opposite Paul McCartney in 2009.

Well, Pretty Lights are pretty popular. I don't think anyone outside of my Coachella circle knows the Presets.

PL was pretty bad at Sasquatch btw. Getting rid of the live drummer hasn't helped. Had fun at his Tucson show though.

Yeah like gribbz said not many people know the presets. I have a lot of friends that have no idea who they are. pretty lights was sold out well in advanced last time he played the Marquee if I rememebr correctly.
