We're in for Spiritualized. And Tommy, did you see that Portugal. The Man are playing the Crescent on 4/6? Might that lure you out to the desert again or is it too close to Coachella?

Zola Jesus was quite good. Conatus has grown on me over the past few weeks, which is good because the bulk of her set was lifted from it. Per setlist.fm:

    1. Swords
    2. Avalanche
    3. Hikikomori
    4. Seekir
    5. Lick the Palm of the Burning Handshake
    6. In Your Nature
    7. Night
    8. Sea Talk
    9. (unknown)
    10. Ixode (identified as "Ioxide" on setlist.fm, but I'm pretty sure that's wrong)
    11. Shivers
    12. Vessel
    ENCORE
    13. Run Me Out
    14. (unknown)

I feel like there was a song between "In Your Nature" and "Night," but am not certain enough to debate the person who posted the setlist. We left right after "Night," which was probably the song I was most anticipating. The only song she played afterward that I regret having missed was "Ixode," but I'll get over it, especially with how tired we were. But yeah, her voice was really good live, something I've come to appreciate more ever since seeing Gang Gang Dance, with their singer's voice really not living up to what it sounded like on the album.

I was really disappointed with her newest release. Glad the show was good though. I should be seeing her at Sasquatch.

In her defense, she acknowledged that she sounded bad, and said it was due to her having a fever.

It might be too close to Coachella, but who knows? I'm always looking for a good reason to head out to Phoenix. I think I'll be able to decide next month.

She must've said that after I left 'cause I don't remember hearing anything of the sort. If that was the sole reason why she sounded bad (and she in fact tends to sound closer to how she does on the album), then I'm all the more disappointed that they're not on the Coachella line-up.

Yep, ever since I saw them at Coachella 06'. I haven't had a chance to see them since. I'm very much looking forward to this show since it looks like it may be the last time to catch them for a while.

She mentioned being sick a couple of times. I honestly didn't notice though.

i just bought tickets for the mowtown classics show at the orpheum on 3/17. the other performances are at the phoenix symphony, but it's been ages since i've been to the orpheum. i'm QUITE excited. i bought cheap seats, but honestly there's not a bad seat in the house there in my opinion. i'm probably going to save my extra ticket in case i have a date, or just invite my dad/a friend closer to the date if not.

Saw Sin post on Facebook about Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds playing the Orpheum on April 18. I was trying to avoid it because he'll win pretty much any conflict at Coachella but the thought of seeing a headlining set in an intimate venue (Ivy's most recent post sold me on the Orpheum) was so enticing that I obsessed about it for a few days and finally told Jennifer that I want a ticket for my birthday. Ended up buying one for myself on Saturday. Can't wait to sing along to "Don't Look Back in Anger."

I like the Noel Gallagher album and I like Oasis. I'll be seeing them at Coachella hopefully both weekends. If I was in town midweek I would strongly consider that show too because the Orpheum easily the best theater in the valley. I've seen Jeff Tweedy play there and Sharon Jones & Dap Kings. I wish they had more shows there.

Thanks for the Polyphonic Spree info Gribbz. I will have to pick up a ticket to that. I haven't even listened to them in a couple of years. I used to be a fan of Tripping Daisy (lead singer's previous band) back in the 90's. I saw them a couple of times live back then.

I thought Toro Y Moi were beyond forgettable when I saw them open for Caribou.

Jame's website lists them at the Marquee on Monday April 16th, the day everyone not doing Faxl's Vegas Adventure gets back from week 1. The UK dates from earlier this year, or late last year, show a two set show.

Coolness. I was looking to hang out with some boarders at the show! I usually tend to go solo to concerts, and while its still fun, its better when your amongst friends.
