I was at 1-2-3-4-Go! records in North Oakland yesterday and the owner was talking about how he is in talks with whoever owns the building space across the street about opening up a new all-ages venue (with potentially a beer garden on the side?).

I didn't see the building in discussion, but he said it would hold ~ 200-250 people. They are also a record label for some local punk/garage bands so that's what I imagine they would go after for booking at first.

That would be fucking amazing. Good all ages venues are in such short supply. 1-2-3-4 Go is also a super awesome record store.

Yeah, it is. I can't wait to go back and buy some more records there. The guy was talking about how so many shows in Oakland end up being house parties or in warehouses, and how so many parents are unwilling to drop their kids off at places like that, so he is motivated to establish something for the community that is safe. I would also love to find a place out here that throws good electronic nights....I'll try to make it to The People's Party the next chance I get to scope it out.

Concord council, promoter hope new deal sparks Pavilion revival

"During each of the two five-year periods of the contract, Live Nation must book a minimum of 75 concerts that draw an audience of at least 3,000 per show. Live Nation must pay Concord a $40,000 fine for each such show it fails to deliver."

"Live Nation must spend $3.7 million on capital improvements at the 38-year-old venue. The contract also calls for Live Nation and the city to spend about $1.1 million each on maintenance over 10 years."

as long as shannon and the clams won't have a lifetime long residency this sounds cool.

    Concord Pavilion getting makeover

    20140315__ecct0316pavilion~1_GALLERY.JPG

"The long list of projects includes remodeling the box office; painting; repaving pathways and plazas; renovating concession stands and restrooms; and adding benches, $115,000 worth of trees and flowers and a new lawn"

"Backstage, performers will find new showers, renovated dressing rooms and bathrooms and a remodeled lounge."

"The company also attracted artists with younger fans by creating a general admission section in front of the stage. Live Nation plans to take out the fixed seats from the amphitheater's lowest level and replace them with removable cushioned chairs."

"Carrico noted that the flexible space also will allow Live Nation to set up a T-shaped stage or tables for dining."
