The link won't work on my phone. When is the People Party?

    Edit:

4/23 and free before 11pm. Shucks, can't go due to a full day with family on Sunday.

I was at 1-2-3-4-Go! records in North Oakland yesterday and the owner was talking about how he is in talks with whoever owns the building space across the street about opening up a new all-ages venue (with potentially a beer garden on the side?).

That sounds swell, how big is the building? I imagine it would be a skate punky scene.

I didn't see the building in discussion, but he said it would hold ~ 200-250 people. They are also a record label for some local punk/garage bands so that's what I imagine they would go after for booking at first.

That would be fucking amazing. Good all ages venues are in such short supply. 1-2-3-4 Go is also a super awesome record store.

Yeah, it is. I can't wait to go back and buy some more records there. The guy was talking about how so many shows in Oakland end up being house parties or in warehouses, and how so many parents are unwilling to drop their kids off at places like that, so he is motivated to establish something for the community that is safe. I would also love to find a place out here that throws good electronic nights....I'll try to make it to The People's Party the next chance I get to scope it out.

I wish that sort of talk would happen in Santa Cruz more often, oh well.
