If the Mezzanine gets its own thread, then it's only right if The Fillmore gets one.

Definitely. I think we can best organize this new forum thing if we break threads up by venue. Also, I love your name. Where's your Hugh Honey?

Fillmore's booking blows, now, since Goldenvoice and APE have gained power.

Haha, thanks. Yeah, Hugh's got an open house.
Yeah, I'd agree for the most part, but there's a few gems every now and then. And seeing a good band there makes them seem even better.
I'll be at Broken Social Scene, The Hold Steady and the Drive-By Truckers which will make for a pretty swell first week of May.
Roky Erickson & Okkervil River should be pretty good too.
Fillmore is nice historically, although I prefer other venues to be honest.
However, Claypool NYE is always sick when it's held here.

It's not being booked by Goldenvoice or APE. Goldenvoice has the Grand at Regency and Warfield and APE has Fox Oakland and Indepedent. The shows that normally would have been booked at the Fillmore seem to be getting swiped by the Fox Oakland and the Grand at Regency.
The Fillmore is now more of a go-to venue for Bud Light concert series acts, Livenation tours, and crunchy hippie crap.

There have been very, very few shows at the Fillmore lately that I've wanted to see because of those reasons.

and The Grand is pretty much like a hybrid of the Fillmore and Great American Music Hall.

I'm just happy that someone named Vic Vinegar tried to sell me a house in this thread.

Are you pushing it out, you ******?
I know, I know, but that's a great one. I was really surprised when they didn't end up at a Goldenvoice venue.
LiveNation does seem to think that making it to be like the House of Blues is somehow a good idea.

I have about 20 apples that are dried no I got at the Fillmore. Remember when they always had those apples in the front just as you walked in? cr*****

ever since i saw DJ Shadow and Anti-Pop Consortium in '02, the Fillmore has had a special place in my heart
Iron Maiden, Boards of Canada and Underworld for 2013
I haven't been to the Fillmore in about 10 years but had a blast looking at all the posters around the venue...
A "funny" sidenote; the first Fillmore I ever stepped foot in was the Denver Fillmore on its opening night in 1999 for the first incarnation of Trey (Anastasio) Band. I didn't attend my first show at the SF Fillmore until the Tragically Hip in 2002.
Edit:
Because I am bored, here is a list of shows that I have seen at the SF Fillmore:
The Tragically Hip, August 2002
Underworld, April 2003
Goldfrapp, October 2003
311 and Blackalicious, October 2005 #
Echo and the Bunnymen, December 2005
Goldfrapp, May 2006 #
Jurassic 5, July 2006 #
Beth Orton, July 2006
Feist and the Long Winters, September 2006 #
Vedera, Mae and the New Amsterdams, September 2006
The Tragically Hip, March 2007 #
Ben Gibbard, David Bazan, Jenny Lewis, May 2007 (on my birthday) #
VNV Nation, June 2007
Feist and Grizzly Bear, June 2007 #
The Bravery, March 2008 #
Death Cab for Cutie and Cave Singers, April 2008
Ladytron, Datarock and Delta Fiasco, May 2008 #
The Butthole Surfers, December 2008 #

is anyone going to see Echo and the Bunnymen at the fillmore the monday after coachella? im considering it.
And I know a lot of you purists hate that LN took the Fillmore name and slapped it on a couple other venues but you gotta hear me out. Living here in Miami Beach we never had any perfect mid-sized venue to book artists in. If they wanted to play it would have to be somewhere in Ft.Lauderdale and those venues are smaller than a typical fillmore
but ever since they opened up the venue right here in the heart of south beach we've actually been getting good shows. Like the best shows this city has ever seen. just in march/april im going to see AIR, Wilco, Arctic Monkeys, Of Montreal and Band of Horses. Tons more acts that have come through over the past couple years.
so im sorry if it offends you guys but im happy because of it. even though LN can suck a fat one
