As soon as I saw it was at Oracle I assumed it was all ages. I still imagine it will most likely adhere to a ratio of 5 mediocre/shit DJ's to 1 good DJ. I could be wrong though, will the lineup be announced before tickets go on sale? Not that it matters to me, I am pretty much done purchasing music event tickets for the year.

I started the Sensation thread in the "Other Festivals" thread asking WTF it is/was? I honestly cannot tell if its a rave or a blue man group/ Circue Du Solei type of show. Nobody has been able to answer that question for me.

I entered the lottery for those SLIMS shows; Deltron #1, Hot Chip #2.
8/27 Rock the Bells @ Shoreline
9/1 Amon Tobin @ The Warfield
9/30 DJ Premier vs. Pete Rock @ Mighty

It's a rave with pretty extensive production.

Visiting SF from Portland on my own the weekend of June 30. If I want to see Deltron 3030 up close, what time should I show up at Stern Grove? Is it easy to bus over there on a Sunday morning?

Where in the city are you bussing from? Depending on where you it might be easiest to catch the L Taraval muni train out to 19th. From what Ive been told getting there at noon should be okay

8/30: Peaking Lights @ The Chapel
9/3: Bear in Heaven @ The Independent
9/11: Tomas Barfod @ The Rickshaw Stop
    9/12: Shifted @ Mercer
    9/24 - 28: Decibel Festival
    10/3-5: Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival
    10/4: Ought @ BoH
10/5: The War on Drugs, Cass McCombs @ The Fillmore
    10/18-19: Treasure Island Music Festival

Either bussing from the North Beach area or The Mosser Hotel near 4th and Mission. Guessing it will be easier from 4th and Mission.

Some people on Yelp were saying times like 8-10am. I understand showing up a couple hours early, but 8am seems a bit much. Ideally I could show up at noon and be fairly close to the stage, but not sure how big this festival is.

There's very limited space around the stage...some of it is not open to general public.

If you take your time getting there, you may be sitting on the side hill.

From North Beach I'd leave early. Take the 30 to the 28 and get off at Sloat if you leave early enough; like 10. Or take the L to Taraval like Guedita said, either one would do you well.

On a separate topic, since this is the only place I've seen this posted; I've been to all of the Silent Friscos for the past three weeks and they have all been awesome. Not many people here today though. Thumbs up to Sunset/ Silent Frisco for throwing some fun parties.

jeez... I wonder. it is not big, and they limit capacity in the main area, which is a good thing, but does require getting there early. given the number of people I know wanting to go to that show I expect a ridiculous amount of people showing up. 8 am does seem a bit silly though.

I was there today and my god it was cold with that wind. Skins & Needles were great, we didn't stay for Lyrics Born though.

So, regarding Stern Grove, my co-worker went to Boz Scaggs/Michael Macdonald yesterday and said that her friends were there staking out a spot at 7:30 AM. Eeeeeeesh.

This is not what I wanted to hear. I'll show up a few hours early, but no way I'll make it over there that early. Going to have to bring a book .

did she say what time others started to show up? it's not important how early the earliest people show up.

Glad to know there was a fellow board member there (or two). I agree the wind was something fierce, but I really enjoyed Skins & Needles too. The tail of Motion Potions set was pretty fun as well. I left about 20 minutes after Lyrics Born started. I was pretty worn out and beat up by the wind but the set sounded good from what I heard.

She didn't, I'll ask tomorrow to try and gauge it (I think she showed up a few hours after her friends...)

Um, I just saw that Derrick Carter's at Housepitality on Wed. July 3rd. Awesome.

As far as Stern Grove -- I've gotten there at 10am before and had to squeeze into a spot on the back hill. They've disallowed new people in around noon before. Considering how big of a draw Deltron 3030 is, I'd go at 8am just to be safe if you really want to be anywhere remotely close to the stage.

Yeah, the hill can fill up quickly...at least the areas with relatively good sight lines.

Anybody get passes for the Converse shows? It said winners would be emailed shortly after the competition closes, but I'm not sure how quickly that would be.

Not yet. It said the competition closes at Noon today but the option to enter is still open. I think we'll be finding out later this week, not today.

They're just now emailing them to everyone. So you should know shortly.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like I didn't get in or that they just haven't emailed me yet.

Edit: Yup, got the e-mail saying I didn't get into any of the shows. If anybody has a spot for Hot Chip, please let me know!

I'm going to be in SF Sept 5-7 and thinking about hitting up Gui Boratto. (we're staying in a hotel that's < 1 mile away) Can anyone tell me if they think this is likely to sell out? I don't really want to pay $18 in convenience fees.
