I am going to the Nick Cave show next week. I have never been to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. I am renting a car - Can you park on the street, or should you just park in the garage?
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

Street parking in that area is limited and sketchy.
12/16/14 Haerts - the Rickshaw Stop
    12/30/14 Flaming Lips w/Foxygen - the Warfield
02/26/15 Tony Molina - the Rickshaw Stop
    04/24/15 Polaris - The Chapel
06/11/15 Neutral Milk Hotel - The Phoenix Theatre

I would take Bart if possible. Bill Grahm is basically at the Civic Center stop. But if set on driving, I would park in the garage. The neighboring neighborhoods are not the best and parking tough. If you do street park I would park west of Van Ness (other side from Bill Grahm).

Thanks. I'm flying in that morning to San Jose, so I don't know if BART is an option. Was planning to drop my luggage off at my friends' house in San Jose, then drive and spend the day in SF. Is there a safe place to park and take the train to the venue? Does it run after the show?

BART does not run to San Jose. You could drive to one of the BART stations, though, and leave your car there. Each station has different parking situations with different parking regulations.
Here is a BART station map: http://mapsof.net/uploads/static-maps/bart_map.png

Caltrain does run from San Jose but the last southbound train on weekdays is at 12AM. Here's the schedule: http://www.caltrain.com/schedules/weekdaytimetable.html
You can take Muni or a taxi from the venue to Caltrain, but I think you might struggle to get to Caltrain on time after a show.

There is public transportation from SJ to Bill Grahm but it takes a long time with transfers that will likely close by the time you get there after the concert. You should drive it.

Edit: Or do what Chia says and park at a Bart station like Millbrae

OK, looking at the BART website, I should be able to park at Millbrae and take the yellow line to the venue, and back when the show's over. Think I'll do that.

drive to daly city, not millbrae. all lines go to daly city, only one line goes to millbrae. if you stop at millbrae you'll end up waiting longer for the train.

Marky Ramone and Andrew WK at the Independent on sale now. If it can't be Joey or Dee Dee, I think AWK is a great choice for lead singer. I think this show is going to be a lot of fun.

There's actually decent seats available left for the San Jose show...just not at decent prices.

Decided just to check for the hell of it...you can get two seats in section 114...for only $1200.

Maybe they'll come back through when they're nearing 80 and I'll catch them for half that!
