MGMt is performing previous day in Palo Alto, they would be my guess.

Did anyone else go to Breakbot on Thursday? I enjoyed the shit out of Irfrane's DJ set.

I was kind of disappointed in Mano Le Tough's set. Some good mixing and tracks but also some bad ones in there. I've definitely have heard better from him.

It only took Mano two tracks to be like, "Oh...ok this crowd is full of shitshows" and change the entire pacing of his set to something sloppier. Definitely not the best I've heard from him either.

    9/12: Shifted @ Mercer
    9/24 - 28: Decibel Festival
    10/3-5: Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival
    10/4: Ought @ BoH
10/5: The War on Drugs, Cass McCombs @ The Fillmore
    10/18-19: Treasure Island Music Festival

I swear it's a club full of either people who just wander down from the bar upstairs to see what the music for the night or adults who, despite being 30, are on drugs for the first time. I was sandwiched next to a group of 4 adults giving eachother back massages in a circle and screaming at the top of their lungs for a good ten minutes.

This exactly. I thought his set opened up decently, but went downhill quickly. Admittedly I didn't stay for very long. Pretty boring.

And this exactly. I don't understand why these people are at Monarch instead of, I don't know, 1015 or Ruby Skye, or even Vessel. Surely there is another venue that caters to them better in terms of music. A friend asked me if it was worse than Vessel, and I have to say... yes. Because at least at Vessel, they have their bottle service tables, which naturally moves them away from us.

I guess if we were 22 and had only been going out to decent clubs for < 1 year, we wouldn't be bothered much or think this is dismaying.

FWIW, I hadn't been to Monarch since August, and had heard friends talking about how terrible it was, and they kept talking about a "sloppy" crowd... it's always been sloppy. But I have a much higher tolerance for people who are sloppy but have some knowledge of and/or interest in the music they're there to see. Last night's sloppy literally is as guedita put it, people who found out they could go dance downstairs for $20 after getting drunk and popping their first e.

I figure this is as good of a spot as any to ask if anyone needs or knows someone who needs a weekend two Coachella pass for face value.

I've posted a Craigslist ad and posted in the Passes section of the forum but know some of you folks personally and thought y'all might be able to help, because I really don't want to get stuck with the ticket.

Also, stoked for the Bjork show. That is all.

sorry to say this, but weekend two passes don't seem to be worth the paper they are printed on, let alone face value.

the number of them on the market is pretty nuts. makes me wonder whether they'll retain the two weekend thing.

weekend two may be awesome this year though. imagine the lack of crowds.
