Hrm, apparently I bought a ticket for Monday's Mangum show at the Fox, not Tuesday. Is anyone else going on Monday?
Duh...we planned this, stoner.
I thought you said you had a ticket for Tuesday.
The Mangum show last night at GAMH was so good... most of the set was acoustic (just him and his guitar) but he brought out additional instrument accompaniment for several songs (horns, accordion, bass drum, cello?, tambourine). He seemed to be in good spirits, smiling, joking around, talking a little between songs. Not what I had expected. A lot better than I'd hoped for, actually. Really glad I'm seeing him again tonight.
Found this set list which seems accurate to me (except of course one of the king of carrot listings is for pts 2/3). So almost all of Aeroplane (does he not play Communist Daughter ever?) and quite a lot of Avery...

Opening act is Andrew, Scott and Laura (Scott of the Gerbils, Andrew and Laura of Elf Power), who were alright. I'm not familiar enough with the Gerbils to know if they played any of their songs but they did do a couple of Elf Power ones. (I skipped the E6 show last year but have a feeling this was re-hashed from that tour). They also joined Jeff for a couple of songs, particularly Scott on horn.
I have extra floor tix for tonight if anyone needs

Went to Vessel on Saturday night for Pete Tong. It was exactly as you guys described; shitty crowd, way too packed, but awesome sound system. It was still quite enjoyable because Tong was bringing some deep deep house which was fucking great and unexpected. But the crowd was crap and the VIP sections are definitely too big. I could see going on a Thursday though when there would be less people and it would be pretty fun.
Psyched for Mangum tonite. Good to see that Little Birds has stuck around. I hope he plays a few more tonite...an hour of him just isn't enough.

Thursdays are only slammed for a short period of time... very few people show up before 11 for free entry, and it clears out a lot at last BART, and gets emptier and emptier after 1. Most of the time when I've left, there have been maybe 30 people left.
The enormous VIP doesn't bother me, since I dance, not sit, when I go to Vessel.
I'm thinking of going on 4/26 for Lee Curtiss, and will be there for Art Department at the end of May unless I'm completely fried after DEMF.

Well, it's like that on Thursdays, at least for a while. I think, though, ultimately, it being a week night and a lot of people depending on public transit, helps it to clear out relatively early.

I'd really like to see Fiona Apple, but her tix are $53 before fees and I'm not sure she can hold it together well enough through this tour and put on a show worthy of the expenditure.

A friend has an extra floor ticket for sale for tonite's Mangum show. I think she'll take any reasonable offer. PM me if interested.

Wye Oak is the support for that Dirty Projectors show. That's going to be a really great show.
I was expecting Fiona to be pricey but I really wanna see her so I might bite the bullet
