Just announced shows in San Francisco

Depending on the price, I'd totally go to BFD for Garbage and the Silversun Pickups (they're a guilty pleasure of mine). Plus, I haven't seen Garbage since '99 when I watched them from my friend's condo balcony as they performed outdoors in downtown Tempe. However, I think Jack White is more likely to perform at OSL over BFD.

Funny how commercial success equates to a stigma being placed on bands like Silversun Pickups. No guilty pleasure here, I think they rock pretty hard. I have seen them a few times and their performance at Outside Lands in 2009 was great. They're a band I'll go see anytime they come to town, with the possible exception of making the trek to BFD

Cool, I've actually never seen SSPU live before. They were at Sasquatch '09, but I chose dinner with Boardies instead of catching their set. A choice I only slightly regret, mostly because Beach House was in the background performing a less than memorable set.

There's a good chance they'll still be available. FYI, Hot Chip is selling tickets via their site and the Fox Theatre's box office probably has a separate allotment as well.

Haha, no I was being genuine. That's too bad, though. Crowds were somewhat aggressive and weird at the 2 Vitalic shows I've seen in the past, too.

I was actually quite underwhelmed. The live instrument support sounded promising, but it translated really poorly for me. The tracks which were mostly/all laptop fiddling were the best. The rest bordered on being too jammy/noodly for me, and the live sax was super fucking cheesy... like, embarrassingly cheesy.

I left early, but I've heard the encores he's been doing were a little better (sans band).

I agree 100% with Chia's assessment. Fucking live sax....whatever. Although I appreciate his willingness to experiment and mix things up, this failed miserably and I hope he hears about it and gives up the Miles Davis routine.

And, that was not him opening...whoever said that was likely one of the strangely high number of people stoned out of their gourd at this show. Actually, it was a very odd crowd altogether - aforementioned stoners, a large group of bears and the majority of people there were mid-30s or older. Do they play Nico Jaar on Fresh Air or something?

Opener was a SF dj (Benhja), I'm not familiar with him.

And yea, what was with all the fucking pot smoking??? It was everywhere and constant. I've never seen it so bad at the Indy. Nico doesn't really strike me as a set to get stoned to, but ....

You know it's pretty bad when we start to complain about the amount of smoking.
