The Chipolte Cultivate Festival is happening in GGP on Saturday and free. It was sorta clusterfuck last year and this year's lineup is a definite step down but just throwing it out there. At least last year I got to see the Walkmen one more time before they "broke up".

Also, Haight Street Faire is on Sunday.

The Masonic in San Francisco (at 1111 California Street) is getting a new look. The venue is reopening this fall following multi-million dollar renovations, including a brand new concert stage, an improved sound system, chandeliers, and tiered audience floors, bringing its total capacity to 3,300.

In addition to the venue’s new accommodations (which now include luxury VIP boxes, new bars and concession stands), the venue-to-be has contributed $100,000 to the renovation of the Huntington Park Children’s Playground in collaboration with the Nob Hill Association.

I wonder if that is going to cut into the Fox's bookings? Seems about the same capacity (2,800 Fox v. 3,300). They already have a show booked with the Pixies who normally play the Fox. I guess I'm answering my own question.

The Masonic is also getting Hall and Oates. It appears as if it will be booking acts that are a cross between the Paramount and the Fox.

Shut the fuck up. WHEN? Hall and Oates at OSL was ruined for me by yappy fuckfaces taking selfies and yelling about how they were partying.

I don't know if I like the sound of "concession stands". it makes it sounds like a sports arena.

The Masonic looks like someone took Club Nokia and the Palladium and blended them together.

Besides the Mountain Winery, the Regency and Warfield use AXS. It's alright, though the waiting room can screw you. For instance, I've heard people have better luck not entering the waiting room right at the onsale time, rather a minute or two afterword. However, when I got my parents front row middle via AXS at the Mountain Winery for a Johnny Lang (Blues-Rock) show, I entered right at the sale time. For the other two venues, it's all GA for me.

I dislike AXS because of the pricey service fees but that goes the same for Ticketmaster.

I'm interested to see how their sound translates to a 'large' stage 'n venue.

If QOTSA can fill it up so can Jack. I wonder if we will get a decent opener as well?
