Thread: Just announced shows in San Francisco

Excited to see Andy Stott and really excited to see Christian Loeffler's do his live thing on Friday. His boiler room set had me hypnotized and grooving but didn't connect the two until a couple weeks ago. He should be an excellent opener.

I think the Regency Ballroom is worse than people suggest. I always convince myself that it's not that bad, and once I am there for a show wish I hadn't spent the money on it. The sound has been really poor for every show I've seen there, and really fairly quiet (ie, I've done to see a number of 'loud' bands/acts there and end up being able to hear everyone around me talking the whole time). It's just an inferior experience compared to virtually every other venue here.

I've never given Loeffler a listen, interesting. I'm going to this, though I have other plans earlier in the night so not sure I'll get there in time for him.

Bad sound for this show would be a deal breaker. Wonder if there will be a proper socal date.

Who is hitting up Andy Stott and who is hitting up DirtyBird at the Mez? I was thinking of making my way over to the Mez if Stott ends by 2.

I'd be surprised if Stott is over at 2, shows at Mighty usually go until 3 at least, right?

I'll see you there at some point. People compare him to Pantha Du Prince but maybe more blissed out. Definitely music to get lost to and has a good flow. I'd check out his Boiler Room Set or Soundcloud Live Set for examples. This is his first US show but the few reports out there on his live stuff is positive.

The only thing that sucks about that Loffler boiler room set is that it had to end.

Ooh. Depending on how busy I am with work that week, I could be into going to that. I've yet to go to one of the night life events.

How far in advance to they generally sell out? The only times I've tried to go, I've waited until a couple of days before hand and it was sold out.

Depends on the popularity of the theme. The Sketchfest Nightlife (highly recommended -- 1/31), the Noisepop Nightlife and the Outside Lands Nightlife are usually the most impacted, but all will usually have tickets available the week before the show. PS: No matter the theme, Nightlife is always $12.

Bought a pair for the Talib Kweli show tonite at the Indy. I have to head to the E Bay for an emergency and wanted to put them up here hoping someone could use them. They cost me $65 for the pair. PM me an offer...for one or both. So bummed I am missing this guy...yet again!

    Cheers.
