I just noticed that The Coup will be the openers for that Erykah NYE show at the Fox. I know they're considered a local band, but I've somehow managed to not see The Coup live yet. This show just got interesting to me.

Randomly going to be in the city this weekend. I know online tickets to James Murphy are sold out but I'm told they have some at the door. Anyone have any experience buying them this way? Do people line up really early to wait it out for tickets?

I have no idea what the crowd would be like for James Murphy, since I think it'll be out of the ordinary for that venue, but typically... no. People don't really start going out until after 11 or even after 12. You shouldn't have to line up early, just get there near the start of the event.

Any time I've gone to Public Works before 11, I've been standing around with my drink taking awkward glances at the 3 other people who showed up too early.

James Murphy was slammed at 11:00 last time round IIRC. I distinctly recall a very long line of people applauding his arrival while waiting to gain entry.

I wouldn't risk getting there at 12 if you're really keen on seeing him but you'd probably be ok.

Yeah, I saw him at Public works last time he was in town and we did not have tickets. I think we showed up around 11:00 to 11:15 and was stuck in line for about 20 minutes but we were lucky because there was a huge line behind us.

Like Ross is saying, you are better to get there early because you don't want to miss him.
