I did not go last year. My New Years is usually spent home alone, drinking wine in the company of my cats, and passing out before midnight.

lol. I do have to say that Sea of Dreams was pretty fun last year. If they have a decent line-up that would be my first choice, but I might do the same thing as you this year and pass out on my couch early. Sometimes NYE is more trouble than its worth.

I've gone the last two years and had a good time. If you are a drinker, the open bars make it a great deal. Never have to wait any time at all for a drink and they'll give you as many as you want. The crowd is pretty marina-esque. A-trak is the reason ill be going this year as I feel he will be playing a good party set. Dont expect a big musical production, more of a fun party to hang out with friends at.

I skipped SF but went to LA and Denver. The Denver show was fantastic -- on par with his January show in Seattle that I've been raving about all year. His LA show was a little lackluster to me. I think it's a bit of a challenge to work his newer material into his set, as it's such a drastic change in tempo and sound from most of his stuff (for example, the modern classical remixes are beautiful but how do you work those into dance floor material?). The flow of the LA set seemed weird to me. A couple of track placements seemed like they disrupted the crowd's energy with less dancing / less intense dancing when the music picked back up. (Fortunately even a so-so set from Max is still a great night of music, and the other DJs were quite good, and the crowd was so much better than what I expected in LA). The Denver set was significantly different in terms of track selection and track order and it worked really, really well. Maybe the best set I've seen from him. I'm hoping a recording will pop up so I can listen again and confirm that.
