Jeff Mangum was devastating tonight in the best ways. The show was really beautiful and celebratory. Honestly though, it will only work at Coachella if everyone is singing along super loud. Otherwise the noise bleed will be too much. Unless he is in a tent, but my guess is he will be in the Outdoor Theater.

That was incredible. Has he been playing with that much of a backing band? In The Aeroplane over the Sea was spectacular.....

I'd heard that his opening band (a different one) joined him on a couple of songs for his previous dates), but I think the backing from Scott, Laura & company is recent. They did it on Sunday. Good sign for Coachella

Jeff really was fantastic tonight. The horn section was beautiful. Showed up at 6pm and got right to the rail. Can't wait to see him on Saturday.

at ATP the first two shows mangum played with no backing musicians at all. the third show he had a hack and a hacksaw accompany him for the fool and one other song, much to our surprise. I'd never heard of him using backup musicians other than that.

I was really surprised sunday when they were setting up all the extra mics and tuning a cello. I'm thrilled that he decided to do that. it adds so much.

It was awesome. The addition of the instruments was really nice. Jeff's voice is in top form...even more strong than it was at ATP. I'm so curious as to where/when he will play at Coachella. They should give him main at sunset.
