I got tickets in section 4 as well. I kept trying for closer ones and eventually got ticketmaster to ban my company's server from accessing their site...hehe

I'm interested in seeing Youth Lagoon at The Independent on April 13th, but it's sold out. However, there are 100 tickets available on StubHub. WTF, this seems like an insane amount of tickets available through the aftermarket for a venue with a capacity of 500. What do you guys recommend I do? Should I wait for craigslist to have tickets or for StubHub to lower their prices as they scramble to unload their supply?

Show up and hang out front 30 minutes before the doors open. Plenty of people will have an extra ticket to sell. I've both been the buyer and seller many times in this situation and it has never failed.

going up to the bay area this weekend (from LA)... wanted to check out Cloud Nothings at Bottom of the Hill but just noticed it's sold out, do any of you locals know if this venue is known for releasing tickets at the door? They do occasionally release tickets at the door after the bands start playing (sometimes not until the headliner has already started), but it's likely that you might just stand outside for hours and not get in. It's dependent on ticket holders not showing up.

And, should you find your way in, it's possible you can make BART, but the show will likely end at midnight (give or take 30 mins) and you'll be hard-pressed to get to the closest BART stn from there in time for to catch the last train. As great a venue as BOTH is, it's a logistical nightmare on multiple levels.

I don't know about that. I've spent $80 to go to El Cerrito from San Francisco, which is only 10 minutes north of Berkeley and is closer off the highway than most of Berkeley.

If you want to do it cheap, your other option would be to wait for the transbay bus, but I don't think that starts running until 2:00 am. But it would be much cheaper.

Or you just leave a little early (around 11:45) and not worry about any of this other shit.

I don't know if this is the case now, but it definitely hasn't always been.

Edit: this may have to do with noise pop and other multi-night festivals where people have badges but may not attend every event. You're probably right.

No, this has been my experience at BOTH the past several years that I've been going there. I've actually never tried to do that for Noise Pop, just regular shows. It's just not worth hauling all the way out to Portero Hill if you don't already have a ticket, imo.

I think you're right, I've gotten in that way in the past but it was Noise Pop and International Pop Festival (or whatever the hell it was called), it was extra room from badge holders who no showed.

Yea, just Emeryville (right by the highway) to SF has been around $50 for me, I definitely wouldn't count on a cab ride as a cheap way home. Crossing the bay is expensive because even when the trip is short, the mileage adds up.
