Don't worry I will hush for a while ......December 26, 1968, that is a day my music revved into a higher gear. I was on leave from the Air Force and staying at my mom’s house for a few days. It was my cousin’s birthday on the 26th and I asked him what I could give him for both his birthday and Christmas. He said there was a concert in town, Vanilla Fudge, Spirit, and some other band. He was younger then myself and looked up to me so I of course said yes. Tickets were $5 but that was ok because my little cousin was worth it. I had my 68 SS Charger RT 440

and we were ready to go that night. I only lived about 3 miles from the Denver coliseum but we jumped in the car and raced off like it was a million miles away. Cus was only 12 at the time so there was no drinking and I had to sneak my partaking of a joint when he was somewhere else. The show was in the round with no assigned seats so we just sat on the 50 yard line and waited for the show to start. Barry Fey came onstage and announced the first band welcoming them to the States for the first time. We sat there a bit antsy waiting for “the real show to start with Spirit and The Fudge”. The 1st band took the stage under purple lights. We sat there thru the first couple of songs and our jaws literally dropped. Who was this band with a lead singer that hit notes I didn’t think a man could hit. The guitar player floored us. I had never seen a guitar player use a violin bow to play and the sounds floated like a woman singing in the wind. It was a sound I will never forget. When the band left the stage and the other bands came on to play, it wasn’t that the other two bands were not good (they were actually killer especially Spirit) but the lead in band was all we could talk about. Sadly years later there was a death in that band like so many other bands of that time and they eventually broke up. Before that though, they put out music and tunes that will forever be a part of my music psyche. The band was Led Zeppelin. Cr*****
I took this off the web so I am not sure of the accuracy.
Some of the songs played on that tour at most venues: Train Kept a Rollin', I Can't Quit You Baby, As Long As I Have You, Dazed and Confused, White Summer / Black Mountainside, How Many More Times.
