The thing that everybody needs to understand is that any activity at the festival at all that involves interacting with security guards is going to have a lot of variability. there are are MANY security guards with different levels of intelligence, attention to detail, ability to give a shit, etc, and other variances like time of day, energy, whether it's dark or light out, size of the crowd, the weather, etc are all going to have an effect on how thorough you get searched and how they decide to act upon finding certain items.

I noticed in 2010 that when I went into the festival dressed in neon raver clothes, the security searched my person and my fannypack EXTENSIVELY, so take how you dress into consideration. (On the upside, they didn't find my stash!)

The only advice I can give is: do not wear a marijuana leaf bandana through the security checkpoint.

They do search you going into car camping. I've been waved through twice (like we could have had a live animal in the car and they wouldn't have found it) right next to people who are having their entire car turned inside-out. It really depends. Last year the security lady looked briefly in our car and trunk, waved us through and then stopped us immediately to say "You know, in Jamaica you can party without this search nonsense" and then told us to have a good time.

One year, i can't remember which, my friend and i were in 2 lines next each other. I had a beard, a hat, a heavy metal shirt with a skull on it, and a backpack. He is kind of chubby, has oily hair, wears cargo shorts and wrist watch and basically looks like a doofus. My security guard lightly fingered the very top of my backback for like 1/2 a second then waved me through. For some reason, my friend seemed to be randomly picked to be pulled out of line and had like 2 security guards THOROUGHLY patting him town, putting their hands in every single pocket, made him take off hi shoes and socks, glasses, etc. my entire group was laughing fucking hysterically at him, it was so weird.

Camping - We have friends who have a camping pass and arrive before us. We DO NOT have camping passes. Will we be let in the gates with just GA tickets and be able to join up with them to camp or does every individula need thier own seperate camping pass?
