This is really nice of you to make. I'm a coachella noob and I've been searching for legit answers to my questions forever.
Anyway, I'm planning to try to get single-day passes the day of (Saturday) because I wouldn't be able to go on the other 2 days anyway. I'm planning on getting there really early in the morning. What are the chances that they will actually sell them? I know they have in years past, but I'm just wondering. And if they have prorated tickets and I buy one on Saturday, does that mean I pay $200 for both Sat and Sun?
Also, one more question. I've heard lockers are pretty expensive. Is it worth it to just pack light (if I'm not camping, that is) and just lug a backpack around everywhere, or just go ahead and buy a locker? Like, how do people usually carry around the stuff they need everywhere? (fannypack/purse?)
Thanks again for taking the time to do this.
Will Bowie ever play Coachella?
What crazy guests will Gorillaz have?
If Orbital doesn't start until the Gorillaz are over, and I run really fast, will I be able to physically get inside of the Sahara during their set, or will it just be too crowded and I'll be forced to stand just outside the tent and try to still see what's going on?
[ Friday ]Them Crooked Vultures • Jay-Z • Benny Benassi • Passion Pit
[ Saturday ] Muse • Porcupine Tree • Faith No More • Mew • Tiesto • The Dead Weather • Pretty Lights
[ Sunday ] Gorillaz • Thom Yorke • MuteMath • Yann Tiersen • Phoenix • Orbital
How far away from the stages are the bar areas and can I see the stages from the bar areas because I want to get drunk and watch bandz
I had this problem with Kraftwerk right after Radiohead..I think i missed a few songs, but i was with one other person and we are able to wiggle and squeeze our way to a center dancing spot.. Its doable..
One thing though MOST acts overlap a little bit. Theres never (rarely) a band starting exactly after another act ends... Most acts overlap by about 15 mins..
Trick, can I play too? If the same general layout is maintained, you will be able to see the main stage and outdoor theater from the beer garden. By no means is it a good seat, but the stages are still visible. From my experience the beer gardens don't give a proper view to the tents, but someone please tell me if I'm wrong.
Here is a map from 2009 if you want to reference it. This may change this year, so look for that map to be posted closer to the festival.

I have no idea. I camp every year. Check the parking FAQ, I think it goes into pretty good detail.
No idea how thorough the car search is going to be since this is the first year. In past years they would pat you down and look through your bag, and then you're in the festival. Inside the gates you can act however you want, basically, and you'll be fine. I've seen dudes get taken down by undercovers but I think that was for buying/selling, and I've seen pipes get grabbed by security, but in all honesty there are a lot of f'd up people.
In general just be smart and non-blatant about it and you'll be fine.
I have no idea what your chances of getting day passes are like, but I would guess "not likely." Prorated means yeah, you pay 2/3 of the whole price on Saturday, and then 1/3 on Sunday. My advice would be just go all three days bro. Coachella rules.
Lockers are NOT expensive. It's $30 for a small one (which holds a lot of shit), I've gotten them every year they offer it. It's really great. It's actually 50 but when you turn your key in they hand you a $20 so really it's 30. Absolutely worth it in my opinion.
No idea about Bowie. I hope so, that would be cool
Everyone.
And I don't know, but I hope they don't conflict. I feel like they probably will, and I'll see Gorillaz but I hate having to chooseEven for headliners you can generally get a good spot in the Sahara without too much trouble, the tent is huge and IMO if you're not like 3 feet from the stage then head backwards. The first 10 feet are like a wonderful PLUR mosh pit, but if you're not there just head back a ways and get a good spot, because you can see the lasers and everything and dance music is just dudes staring at laptops anyway.
You can if you try hard enough. (I DO NOT ENDORSE STATUTORY RAPE)
I don't know, personally the idea of alcohol in desert heat makes me want to throw up, but I'm pretty sure you can see the outdoor and the main stage from one of the beer gardens.
YEAH!
damn.
wow thank you for this thread!
so I'm probably gonna save about $600 for coachella, is that a reasonable amount or too little?
Depends. Including tickets? I spend about 500-600 every year all-in, including tickets, drugs, water (get the refillable bottle, it's a great deal (wish it was colder though)), food, pitching in for gas, camping, etc. We drive from CA though so your travel might vary. I don't usually buy any merch so you if you want that it'll be a little more. But yeah, in general $600 should be just fine.
Oh by the way, the locker guy is the same guy every year as far as I can tell, and he is very friendly. A very nice man. Just FYI.
will there be good places to dance ?
i find it funny that people talk shit on a place that has absolutely no courageous worth what so ever. this is an anonymous forum where all you have is your wits, but i think that’s the very reason why some people can be so rude.
thus, it's sad, obvious and actually quite nice of trick loves the kids to start this thread.
i never used to post, but i started since i felt that this being my tenth annual coachella, i do have some valid input.
best,
-me.

How come when someone grabs that fleshly patch of skin with no nerves on the back of your elbow and you start flailing that arm around, it's known as "riding their weenus"?
This may be my first year camping.. so... what's it like?
What I'm most concerned about it not getting to bed until 3-4AM and then waking up hours later between 7-8 because of the heat. Can you make it through the day on such little sleep or is it a little tortuous?
i've never camped out on the grounds, but my husband did. he never wants to do it again particularly because of the heat.
suggestions:
1. DO NOT close all of the zippers in your tent. as you sleep, you release moisture (i learned this in a backpacking class in college). leave the top of the zippers for both your door and "window" open a bit. also, since hot air rises, it will hopefully leave the tent thought these makeshift vents.
2. it's actually cooler outside your tent. look for shade and hang out there for a bit. if you're a nerd about it (a good thing!), you can pay attention to the sun and see how it rises/sets. that way, you can set up your tent's door so that the sun DOES NOT hit it in the morning.
stay cool and hydrated. best.

Build a canopy over your tent.

It's fun. Again, it's car camping this year, so things will be different, but camping rules.
I usually get earplugs and try to pass out pretty soon after the show ends, but a lot of people party. I mean, if you came from England to see Rage you'd probably party all weekend too. It's pretty pleasant at night, I usually just sleep on top of my sleeping bag, but yeah at like 7am it gets mad hot and everyone wakes up. I function without lack of sleep, it's pretty easy with all the excitement of the festival, but you'll definitely be hurting the next few days. My post-coachella routine is usually 1) take bongrip 2) cry.
DO NOT BRING A TENT IF YOU CAN HELP IT. I did that one year and woke up literally drenched in sweat, shit turned into a greenhouse at 8am and I wanted to die. If you can, bring a canopy, just something to block the sun. If you need a tent for privacy I guess go for it, but seriously if you can help it bring a canopy instead of a tent.
yes.
Anywhere, but my favorite places are the Do Lab and the Sahara Tent. The Do Lab is this amazing installation, they have DJs playing all day (DJs who aren't on the main lineup, and most of them are great) and misters so it's a very nice place to hang out. They have hella bass too.
Probably not. I'm not sure if he's good live or not.
Can you put these in some type of order?
Frozen Lemonaide
Burgerito
Salah
Churro
Main Stage
Edward Sharpe
Heineken Beer
Whiskey Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1 cherry
1/2 slice lemon
Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
thanks for your reply! I def. want one of the refillable water bottles too, heyy sweet souvenir!
Definitely backpack. You don't need to bring much, and it's not worth the price to get a locker, plus you'll have to worry about making long trips back and forth from the locker (Coachella is really big!). Just bring a backpack with a sweatshirt or jacket (no matter how hot it is during the day, it gets cold when the sun goes down) and camera or whatever.
You can see/hear the Mohave pretty good from the beer tent across from that, the Sahara, you can hear but not really see. The fence along the beer tent by The Outdoor Theater is probably the best view of all the beer tents, you can see The Main Stage from the other side of that beer spot okay, but not as good as the Outdoor. The best drinking view of the Main stage is from the VIP beer garden, but it's still not that good, it's kinda far.
