That's a great example of no reason at all, or at least a very flimsy pretext to show him slaughtering people. I'll bet the writers spent a whole 10 seconds writing that scene, even including the part where he simply smashes the dude on his knees begging for mercy. And then that frighteningly clever bit of dialogue "Who do I have to kill?", "Does it matter?"

They have done an awful job of creating the "Mountain is a truly terrible dude" vibe from the books, and tried their best to jam it all into one episode.

I was uncomfortable reading about all the raping and baby murdering the Mountain did in the books. There's definitely a point I'm tired of reading this horrifically dark stuff... for me it was when one female character was okay because she was only SORT OF raped, so that was okay. And then they introduced another barely pubescent female character to strip naked in front of a group of guys so they could whip and rape and threaten to murder her. I'd been missing that sort of pedophiliac misogyny from the books. Thanks, George R.R. Martin. I love reading about the c__ts of 13 year old girls.

*Note. This was sarcasm. I have no desire to read about 13 year olds being raped and beaten and stripped and whipped, but that's what I'm getting. Perhaps I should switch back to the relatively inoffensive Chuck Palahniuk.*

IMHO, Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei), is the most attractive of the recurring actors.

    Edit:

Lena does her own dirty work.

I hope the sound fx guy/team tasked with creating the sound of multiple teeth being punched out of someone's scull and raining onto the floor got a raise, that sound is gonna haunt my dreams for a while. Also kudos to the skull squishing team. Yeah definitely one of the most brutal GOT deaths ever.

Though for my money not as emotionally distraught with this as I was with the red wedding.

this had much more of an impact on me. I was much more emotionally invested in the outcome of this fight. it felt like a last bit of hope for revenge, but evil prevailed. I really want the dragons to come and burn them all to death.

The fact that it was done so well in such a manner that you really, REALLY thought it was going to go the other way really made it work quite well too.

I found this episode way more distressing and shocking than the Red Wedding and the shock on par with perhaps the death of Ned Stark. I mean… that was brutal. And we all know Tyrion is innocent. The worst part about this is that Cersei will have the satisfaction she has been craving. Fuck… As a person who hasn't read the books, I hope Jaimie steps up here.

exactly. they let my hope build up SO high before crushing it so effectively.

I can't wait to see how she dies. (though, surely that won't be how Jamie steps up.) I'm beginning to hate her more than Joffrey. I feel that she's just as evil, only more discreet about it.
