jesus, no one said you shouldn't read whatever on anything.
I'm an old guy, I fear these Kindle devices because they are strange and confusing to me. I've never even tried one, I'd probably like it.
I don't know why everyone here always has to react over innocuous things like they fucked their mom or something.

What the shit are you talking about.

E Ink Pearl, announced on July 31, 2010, is the second generation of E Ink Vizplex displays, a higher contrast screen built with E Ink Pearl Imaging Film.[7] The updated Amazon Kindle DX was the first device announced to use the screen, and the Kindle 3, Kindle 4, and Kindle Touch also incorporate the Pearl display.

Khaleesi getting her High Fashion on. I like the cover photo, but the other shots are pretty meh. I think she's much more captivating as a blonde, but the girl's got a great face.

you might be right, but for the wrong reasons. That announcement is 2 years old. The rumors as of last year were that they was no roadmap or even upgrade path for the E Ink devices as Amazon focused efforts to go after the ipad market. It seems that only very recently this year rumors of a front-lit, color E Ink device are spreading. Kindle may or may not be on board right away.

    From the A.V. Club:

With the admonition that it may spoil things to learn that the next season of Game Of Thrones will introduce a whole bunch of new characters, many of whom will participate in plotlines and occasionally speak lines of dialogue, Entertainment Weekly has revealed a list of who will be joining the show next year, prompting viewers who haven't read the books to turn to their significant others and go, "Wait, who is that dude again? Why is Dragon Lady so mad at him?" They include: Mance Rayder, Daario Naharis, Edmure Tully, Ser Brynden Tully (The Blackfish), Lady Selyse Florent, Shireen Baratheon (Stannis' daughter), Olenna Redwyne (The Queen of Thorns), Beric Dondarrion, Thoros of Myr, Tormund Giantsbane, and Jojen and Meera Reed—though showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss say there will also be "a few others," until no working actor goes unemployed ever more. Anyway, those who have read the books may recognize some of these characters from A Storm Of Swords (the events of which will be stretched across two seasons), thus giving Game Of Thrones experts the rare opportunity to feel superior.
Those of you upset about the Reeds' Season 2 absence will apparently sleep well tonight.

You got the last release of the original E Ink models. Amazon isn't going to design another.
It sounds like they're in wait and see mode with the new color E Ink technology that's still in its infancy.

Nonsense. Nobody is using that tech. Where are you getting this from?

yes there are color ebooks out there but they're more expensive (which is definitely not Amazon's model) and less readable than current black & white ebooks (at which point advantage dissapates). Amazon isn't buying into it yet apparently. LCD (and similar technology) are also catching up as far as clarity and glare.

    Internets: Teh more you know!

Despite the larger budget and a creative decision to move the battle to the night, there was still not enough time or money to film the battle as depicted in the books. George R.R. Martin was aware of this and pared the battle down significantly in his script. However, it still retained several elements that the producers then had to remove to make the budget work
So for those of you that read at least through the 2nd book, how much smaller/disappointing was the TV Blackwater bay battle, compared to how it is depicted in the book?

After some quick googling I found these differences, not sure if this constitutes SPOILERS or just minor differences from the books but it's in white :
The battle takes place by day, Stannis's fleet lasts much longer and is never explictly stated to be completley destroyed, and the Wildfire is more gradual. The Hound does not offer Sansa to come North, and it is Garlan Tyrell, not Loras Tyrell, who wears Renly's armour and breaks the siege

^^Any other differences than the ones above? I'm more interested in the size, scale, and length of the battle.

I don't even have to go into how I know this, a cursory internet search shows you at least a couple tech blogs that basically say the same shit. But the needlessly obstinate routine is always fun. so.

Now that Tyrion successfully defended the city, I hope Lord Tywin is nicer to him and lets him keep his lady friend.
