there were strong suggestions in the book that they were gay... but i don't recall it being said outright. there certainly wasn't the confrontation with margery.

I must have been oblivious to the suggestions that they were gay... I just remember Renly being loved but do not remember reading about any interactions between Renly and Loras. *SPOILER*
I guess it doesn't matter much anyways since Renlys life is short lived in book 2
“Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death.” - Albert Einstein
“Music is a safe kind of high" - Jimi Hendrix
“Music is the wine that fills the cup of silence.” - Robert Fripp
“Nothing separates the generations more than music. By the time a child is eight or nine, he has developed a passion for his own music that is even stronger than his passions for procrastination and weird clothes.” - Bill Cosby
Yes, we as readers, all knew he was gay.
My reaction to this episode.
Holy fuck it's Polliver! We'll see the Tickler next episode I bet!
I've never read the books but I remember it being made fairly apparent that renley and the flower dude were an item right from the episode where they introduced him.
Yes it was made very clear in the first episodes. I am speaking of the books.
I was completely oblivious to the hints. I re-read a few bits. Definitely hinted but never confirmed directly. Although I was always wondering why he had a "Rainbow Guard"
I am also very excited for the next episode and hoping to see the Tickler, creepy bastard.

For what its worth, I read through nearly all 5 books before I learned about them being gay. In fact, I read book 1 three times (over the course of...what...10, 11 years?), and book 2 twice. When I saw those two being gay for each other in the tv series I immediately got on google.
Sure enough, apparently there is plenty of evidence sprinkled (pun) throughout the first couple books. I even found a website that had a compilation of every single bit of evidence pointing to their romance.
Guess that went WAY over my head...![]()
In your defense, there is a lot going on in those books.

Alright my sweet summer children,
I'm off to that annual orgy of debauchery and debasement (and often some blood) that I simply cannot do without (and pretty much the only thing I'd miss a live episode premiere for)...
Joff's nameday tourney??
No, you camel's cunt, Coachella!! where Winter Never Comes! (except last week, apparently)
Time to party like a Lannister!
I heard even Jon Ho's gonna be there!
Keep yo weed hidden from the Gold Gloaks, pray to R'hllor that Shagga Likes Axes doesn't conflict with The Painted Dogs, and try not to father too many bastards!
(and oh yeah, if they can create a holographic Tupac, definitely watch out for shadowbabies this week!)
No, don't, don't cut my hair, Ned loves my hair.
flew through Season 1 and lovin this show, especially the new Hand of the King tale teller extraordinaire. Won't bother with the books as did that age of novel a long time ago and have others already lined up. Hope to catch all up this week.
Where is Lord Beric?
Wow what an episode, so many good scenes - I feel like from now until the finale it's just gonna be a full-out sprint.
I have to say I almost always enjoy the added-on scenes as much if not more than the canon scenes, Joffery's was especially chilling.
Vampire Weekend (4/18) ~ Sigur Ros (4/19) ~ Old Crow Medicine Show (4/28) ~ Rolling Stones (5/2) ~ Born Ruffians (5/6) ~ Yo La Tengo (5/9) ~ Rhye (5/10) ~ Baths (6/28) ~ Latitude Music Festival (7/21) ~ End of the Road Festival (8/30 - 9/1)
I hate Joffrey more in the show than I do in the books.
The Tickler never asked about Lord Beric, just the brotherhood. I think that's probably because the TV audience probably wouldn't know who Lord Beric is.
Mel has amazing tits.
Agreed. I am thinking of bringing my cable box into work to start watching it in our theater.
any excuse to get her ta-ta's on screen is OK by me I suppose.
her hooha looks wonderful also
I believe he was referencing her winged mythological companions.
Kinda pissed that they offed the Tickler, since that ruins some upcoming epic stabassery, but damn, those last two episodes were fucking tops.

Total Recall style.
