I found this to be a good guide to getting houses/names straight.
And yes, Lady Stark's sister is mad.

The "our marriage" scene in the last episode was just great. The queen (the one from the scene) is my favorite actress right now. She does this thing where she barely moves the corners of her eyes and mouth that gets me every time.

fire cannot kill a dragon
not sure how many of you caught episode 7 as well... but shit is going down. gonna suck waiting 10 months for season 2.
i'm getting very anxious to see this show after reading so much positive stuff for it! Gonna wait for the dvds and take it all in at once.

yes, you can now watch ep 7 on HBOGo
HBOGO seems to be a no-go for me. (Thanks, Comcast!) and I can barely wait to see the next episode. I'm very intrigued by this dragon business.![]()
in the books I think his wolf saves him... i think they changed it to make Greyjoy a bit more prominent. he's barely present in the first book, but a huge part of the second... and it's a bit jarring. looks like they are trying to make that transition easier in the show.
Fuck Episode 7 was good.

Love this fucking show. Though the best part has to be when Carcetti and chubby pedophile looking dude get into the verbal war about who has the best ears and knows the most gossip. Ridiculously over the top and epically hilarious.
Like the rest of you, I've watched every episode and have only picked up on half the names.
Arya needs more screentime, she's the best character.
I read the first two books YEARS ago, and read them so fast that I hardly remember a thing. I only remember how amazing of an experience it was to read them.
So before I start watching the series, I decided to read through the books again. about 125 pages into the first book and it is *unbelievable* how amazing it all is, bringing back a lot of memories.
I am, however, faced with a dilemma. I want to finish the books before I hit the tv show, but my girlfriend is interested in watching it with me (there is no way she'd read this stuff).
I would like to watch it now only because then her and I can enjoy and discuss and geek out about it together...but I'm afraid reading/watching them together might spoil one or the other...
Suggestions?
Well the TV series is only the first book, I'd recommend just reading it quick then watching with your girlfriend.
Very true, I seem to have overlooked that season two is a VERY long ways away. Also, I have already read through the whole first book...
I'm probably just overthinking it. I am just really excited to be reading these books again, such a good time
convince the gf to read the books with you, dogvolta - I've successfully coerced 4 people into reading them, nook/kindle and paper versions are bundled & on sale at amazon and barnes & noble. I can't wait for the next one to come out in July.
Convincing her to read these books would be like her trying to convince me to go out and buy every bachelor/bacheloret on dvd and watching them all back to back. twice.
That is why I am happy enough that she offered to watch the series with me![]()
the third book is monstrous... so many good scenes in it. apparently they are planning to split that one into two seasons, which seems like a really wise decision.
