Also Josh Pavement are playing here in Seattle at the Paramount on 9/5 so they won't be making an appearance.

WTF? Pavement are playing the Paramount during Bumbershoot?

Way to drop the ball Bumbershoot. I seriously don't see how they could let this happen.

Are you guys actually? If you are, Becky and I will buy tickets and go with you guys. Presale is tomorrow morning. I can look for the password if you want.

I cant believe presale is tomorrow...and Georgia Straight is presenting it, but I cant find the password on their site... and it says its presenting Tool as well....could The Fox really not be a sponsor?

It appears as if the presale password is yet to be anounced. I will keep an eye out. It might be one of the cases where the presale is anounced 10 minutes before hand.

And it would probably be a better thing if The Fox isn't presenting Tool.

I think I'm going to try to go again this year barring horrid lineup. It's so close and so inexpensive compared to everything else I ever want to attend.

This is not THE update, but it is AN update. The lineup will be officially released June 1... two weeks from tomorrow. I'm surprised there are no leaks to speak of yet.

Is it anyone at this festival event nearby the same weekend? Last year had Metric and Franz F play Sonic Boom Edmonton and Bumbershoot Seattle the same weekend.

My only other Bumb hunch is Green Day. Their US tour ends that Thursday in California and they don't start playing again until a month later in South America. They completely skipped the Pacific Northwest in 2010.

Can you maybe give us a hint on the headliner. Maybe name another 2010 festival they are playing.

Has to do with popularity in Canada, I think. or maybe RA is paid less in exchange for going on last and Weezer get paid more with 2nd billing. It does happen at festivals.

C'mon now.... unexpected good or unexpected bad?

Must be Lil' Wayne. I'm not expecting him to be out of prison by September. Or Kurt Cobain... I'm expecting him to still be dead.

Add Balkan Beat Box to the list of expected bands - courtesy of CoS. I love BBB, very happy to be seeing them again (although three times this year is a lot for any band).

We needs some kind of hint: Solo/group, male/female, maybe white/black or what sized venue they'd otherwise play in Seattle.

Unexpected makes me think of SADE(supposedly touring in 2010) of Shakira(never played the northwest)

Gorillaz start their UK tour on that tuesday.

Yeah, unexpected tells me not Soundgarden, which is a bummer.

On the other hand, it also probably means no Jay-Z, Muse, or any of the other current festival whores. I'm praying it doesn't mean DMB, who would be unexpected because they play some other fratboy mumblemouth jam band nonsense that weekend.*

*Just kidding. I know there are many DMB fans out there, just not me. At all.

Bumbershoot doesn't have a headliner budget of other festivals. The 6 headliners last year were: Katy Perry/Sheryl/YYYs/Jason Mraz/Modest Mouse/Franz F/Black Eyed Peas.

Muse played Seattle in April 2010 and December 2009. Jay-Z came thru last year. DMB played the Gorge. Petty ain't happening.

I also noticed they are announcing ghe lineup the same day as Outside Lands. Talk about having your thunder stolen.

That's a strong bunch of bands, though. YYYs ended up as a fill-in headliner at Lolla, Katy and Black Eyed Peas were both hot, and Sheryl Crow is a pretty big star.

As long as there are two headliners I'm interested in seeing, I'll be there. I love the town, and a true arts festival (with comedy!) is welcome.

I'm curious - do you think OSL will steal Bumbershoot's thunder, or the other way around? With OSL's lineup fairly well established now and the shrinkage to two days, I imagine Bumbershoot will be more interesting on June 1.

I enjoyed the YYYs set at Bumbershoot more so than their set at Sasquatch last year. Though, both sets were great.

Here's a major update... Rolling Stone is reporting that the Bumbershoot headliners are:

Bob Dylan, Weezer, Hole, and Mary J. Blige!

I'm not sure whether that gets me there or not... the comedy lineup will really help, as well as the middle-tier. I've never seen Dylan, and that might be a good spot to catch Weezer... maybe.

Seen Dylan, Weezer and Hole and don't need to see Ms. Blige...not a bad start for Bumbershoot though.

I can dig those 4 for the most part. Courtney in Seattle could be an entertaining trainwreck.
