so I'm getting the greyhound from LA to Indio and don't really want to carry a whole heap of food/beer with me on the bus so was wondering if I'd be ok to buy all my shit when I get to Indio

I suppose you could. And they won't run out of beer. Indio isn't exactly the boondocks. There are grocery stores too. Just do a search for:

7-Eleven (a convenience store)
Ralphs (there is one on Jefferson, close to the grounds)

But be forewarned, they do not have any Vegemite. Or beetroot.
