ha its a pretty fun festi. 24 hours of music is awesome.
only complaints are... soundsystem needs to be better and the weather blows. 90% humidity and 90+ degrees every day.
the music is what its all about, you love it just like i love it.
i agree. a Simon Posford DJ set is still badass.
according to http://www.twistedmusic.com/tours/
it will be a DJ set; but Shpongle was initially listed as a performing band on the Wakarusa website

Is anyone going to Waka this year? I just bought my ticket and camping pass. I've heard the camping scene and environment are amazing. Plus, there are some great bands playing this year.
I read that you could fish in a lake and in the river there. Is this true? Do you bring your own fishing pole and bait? That sounds badass. I know there is frisbee golf and canoeing as well. I'm flying to Tulsa with my gf and then driving the rest of the way, so I'm trying to get all my camping and travel stuff ready soon.
If anyone could give me some knowledge from experience or insider info on camping, things to bring, tips, etc., I would really appreciate it. I plan on arriving early Thursday if you wanna say whats up and load one up.
Thanks and peacccccce.
I went to the old Kansas location, but this will be my first time on the mountain. Speaking with friends that went last year, main stage camping is a non-stop party and anything and everything is floating around. As for fishing, I'm pretty sure you must provide all your own gear and such. This is going to be an awesome weekend!

I didn't see a 2013 thread and since there are so few of us here, guess this is the current thread. I just picked up two tics and ADA camping (it's always so fucking close you can go back to camp because you forgot your cigs or something and it is no big deal.) So if anyone is going from the board, lets chat. I don't think I will have any room for hitchers though because I think we are going to the Roo the next run. Fuck Waka runs thru June 1st and Roo isn't till the 13th. We may just head home to refresh but geez that is an extra 2k added to the round trip. I have places to stay in Tn but for 2 weeks lolz.....hummmmm.....cr****

Runs through June 2, but you wouldn't leave until June 3 I assume. Then getting to Bonnaroo a day early isn't a bad thing to avoid that damn line so that's the 12. You'd have 9 full days to run back to CO. With that money you're better off finding a good route and checking out some stuff.
My buddy's band Jon Wayne and the Pain will be playing there this year.
Yea I lived all over that area but I suppose I could kill a few days. I have no patience but that's always been the case. I have a niece and her family there in Whitebluff Tn where I could stay all summer if I wanted and they wouldn't care. Cool on your buds band. Let me know when they play and I will try and catch them. One year this band member was leaving on the last day in the morning and they gave us their credentials (plastic hanging things). We had the best time that last day pretending like we were "somebody". That's Waka though.......cr****

Oh shit, Band of Heathens! Hell yeah. Those guys are from Austin and they fucking slay, I highly recommend checking them out, Ron.
Don't be fooled by the acoustic shit, they throw down hard when they're plugged-in.
EDIT:And I had no idea the Black Crowes were back from hiatus. Hell yes.
Ha! I wasn't making excuses, I just don't think it's everyone's cup of tea. She's a chill, sexy girl though! Go see her for sure

Best ....I have been to.....
I had to look up Fun festy. Looks like a good one but not jammy enough for me. Actually I have never done any of the Austin ie: SXSW, etc. so it might be somewhere I need to go this year. It's about a month after BM so let's see if I survive thatcr****

How many people show up on average? How relaxed is the festival? Those pictures are great, can you please share more? I'm seriously considering this festival cause of the solid lineup and adventure aspect.
Here is a quote from some rag about the top festivals in the US....
“The Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival is a 4-day foot-stomping party in the heart of the Midwest. Born in 2004, Wakarusa burst onto the scene with a diverse and eclectic lineup featuring over 70 artists. The 2004 and 2005 bills perked the interest of both devout and casual music fans alike. Fans that made the trip to Wakarusa left with unforgettable stories of the music and the beautiful surroundings. In 2006, Wakarusa returned and quickly established itself as a premiere, grassroots event in the nationwide outdoor music scene. Attracting folks from all 50 U.S. States and 5 countries, the 2006 event featured over 100 artists, 7 stages and over 4 days of non-stop music and entertainment. The 2007 and 2008 events again featured over 100s of artists and drew attendees from all 50 U.S. States and several countries. 2009 marked the event’s first year at Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, Arkansas.”
It said the attendance is somewhere about 60k I think. Not as many sparkle ponies as Coachella, a lot of kids and families, moon shine from the locals ala' the Roo, the drugs flow, the hot air balloon floats, open fires, lakes right there (I don't remember if you can get in them), and some of the best musicians of any particular instrument you can think of. cr****
