I'll be reporting back briefly on the Drumsound & Bassline Smith EM
The essential mix has sucked for a while since the new time slot. They better book some real talent this winter.
"How long will this last, this delicious feeling of being alive, of having penetrated the veil which hides beauty and the wonders of celestial vistas? It doesn't matter, as there can be nothing but gratitude for even a glimpse of what exists for those who can become open to it."
Photek's Essential Mix is awesome http://soundcloud.com/everybodywants...al-mix-2012-10
Photek seems likely for a next summer festy tour.

Well, he played Movement this year. I am pretty fuzzy regarding that day, but I don't remember his set being that good? Interested to check out the EM though.
Just heard it for the first time and really liked it. I'm starting to really get into Dusky.

I know this isn't a BBC mix, but I don't know where else to put this great Boiler Room set:
^^^ In the Disclosure thread
I listened to some EM's from this past year. Jacques Lu Cont was fun, so was Feed Me. I reserve that L-Vis 1990's is still the best
I'ma ball at the mall shuttin' down the sea wall
Deetron? Fuck yes.

Calyx & Teebee was fucking dope!
Yeah, Calyx + Teebee is really hitting the spot for me right now. Solid mixing, track selection is very good (Lulu Rouge and Submotion Orchestra got me really excited to take a listen, not to mention all the Trentemoller, BoC, Aphex, FSOL, and of course all the dnb production). One of the best essential mixes I've listened to in a while.
So are they trying to play the same em two weeks in a row? Eats everything just won em of the year... Played that like a headliner set.

Not that I claim to have any good taste in anything, but they replayed the Nicholas Jaar EM tonight. Its a little too out there for me. Was trying to give it a 2nd chance tonight, and got about as far with it as the 1st time they aired it- about 30 minutes. Is it supposed to grow on you or something?
Thirded.
See, brando4n82? We've had our rough patches in the past, but ultimately we see eye to eye and can come together in our shared disappointment in the Nicolas Jaar EM.
Have you guys listened to the no BBC edit? It helps.
I thought the same when I first heard Nico's EM but, I got into it later in the mix (probably 40 min or so) and then it all really clicked and I think it's absolutely amazing. I say give it another listen but, it could just be that we have different musical tastes.
Brandon and malcolm's taste being, of course, deplorable.
