Now that it is december is it too early to start an essential mix of the year conversation?
I thought pete tong did a great job in selecting talent this year.
#1 sbtrkt - i am a total fan of his style: hard, interesting tracks and complicated mixes.
#2 japanese popstars - the more i listen to that mix the more it crushes from top to bottom.
# 3 netsky - best dnb or heavy bass style mix this year.
#4 beardyman - im constantly impressed with what he does by himself flwoing through unlimited genres.
# 5. Ill go with eats everything strictly because it was live.
Homorable mentions to modselektor, pearson sound( very good btw), julio bashmore, art dpt.

Amazing mix and tracks by pearson. One of my favorites this year.
My top 5 EMs are probably
Jamie xx
Pearson Sound
Art Department
Eats everything
Maya Jane Coles
5/18/13 - Kill Frenzy & Justin Jay @ Spin Nightclub SD
6/4/13 - Focus OC 10 Year Anniversary
Kalkbrenner gets my vote for EM of the year.
My favorites are:
Eats Everything
SBTRKT
Pearson Sound
Jamie xx
Brookes Brothers
and Grannock that Netsky mix is from October 2010.
I should mention paul kalbrener(sp?) his was badass.

I instantly fell in love with Eats Everything. That shit goes hard. Hopefully a Coachella appearance is in the works...
I enjoyed Pearson Sound's EM much more than I thought I would. I guess I expected more of that jukey footwork sound but was pleasantly surprised. Couple meh tracks but that comes with most 2 hour mixes.
Gave the Art Department EM a proper listen last night. Loved it.
The Morgan Geist track and James Blake remix in the back half are monsters. I could see them, or someone like them, garnering a decent crowd in the sahara and killing a mid-afternoon slot.
So far I'd say my top 5 are
Above & Beyond
SBTRKT
Netsky
Japanese Popstars
Beardyman
SBTRKT
Beardyman
Derrick Carter
Dimitri from Paris
A Trak
Okay move A trak and replace with Art Department. Nice!
And by Netsky i meant Joker
2011 EM > 2010 EM
No doubt.
The short list....

I hope one of the really solid ones get represented. Mark wood this week was boring.

Finally got around listening to Above and Beyond's EM right now, while on 50 mg of diphenhydramine lol...pretty good so far

Not really a dubstep guy myself, but I ended up giving Jokers EM a listen... I gotta say, I really liked it. He is really good and synthesizing bass sounds.
Who all you gonna be voting for for EM of the year?
i voted for julio bashmore. i really dig that sound right now
it was tough though, i could have voted for a few that are on the list
the music is what its all about, you love it just like i love it.
