Any of you guys students here? I need to associate myself with some ppl with good music taste at this school. bahaha far and in between.. fuck.
I'm going! and I'm a student.. I go to UNLV.
Hey, everyone in Vegas! Doesn't this town suck balls???! Every once in a while, we're lucky enough to get Animal Collective (brilliant) or Phoenix (meh) to play one of our glossy venues. But they're probably so disgusted by the oily douchebags they have to deal with in order to play there, they'll never return. Maybe Japandroids or No Age will play the Beauty Bar every now and then. Otherwise, what's the point of living in a city if you can't check out a decent rock show every week or so? I'm so out of here. Moving back to Brooklyn this June.
Anyway, I'm going. I just got a couple of tickets for me and my brother. I'm taking him for his twenty-first birthday. It'll be my first Coachella. Been wanting to go since Radiohead/Pixies in '04 but I've always been broke or in another region of the U-S-A. Can't wait.
i just watched anchorman yesterday where he keeps misusing that expression and thats what popped into my head after reading the butchered version of that saying
anyone from vegas, free show at Gyspy Den this Friday night (Feb. 5th)...

LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN

4/27 Crystal Castles
6/21 EDC (Vegas)
10/6 Depeche Mode
I have lived in Vegas for 20 years. We definitely don't get good shows like we used to. And if we do get a good act here the tickets are too expensive. The best way to get to see good, inexpensive shows in this city is to join some kind of band society. Most shows are less than 20 bucks and you get to meet some cool people.
Ok, from Vegas! You can't really say no bands come here. I mean Jay-z, Muse, Dead Weather, Them Crooked Vultures, Artic Monkeys are all in town around Coachella. Hell The Whigs and BRMC played Hard Rock last night. Ticket prices are roughly the same as other dates all the above artists are playing. Muse $50 range, same for TCV...yes the fee's add up for TM but thats the same anywhere, so you buy at the venue.
When I first came to Vegas 8 years ago, it was rarely played on a bands touring circuit. Last few years it has got better. We get most of the same bands as any other medium sized market. Its hardly LA or NY but we do just as good as Phoenix or San Diego.
Heya, my friend and I are flying into Vegas for 3 days, and we are looking to hit some places that aren't all flash Vegas crap. Has anyone any suggestions? We have been to teh Beauty bar and teh Double Down for some interesting times. Is anyone up for going sharing any advice or even joining us for some drinks somehere?? Anyone know of some good long hills for longboarding too, nothing too crazy. We are not big sliders, just carvers.
Peace
Wat up guys from vegas here at uNlv going to coachella...anyone attending neon reverb next weekend?
I like Vegas cause I only visit it! We got three of us hitting vegas for 3 days and then heading to Palm Springs the night before the fest.
If you don't flash Vegas crap then stay off the strip. That is all you will find there. A great place to check out is Red Rock. Not the casino but the actual national park. Its beautiful right now, especially because its not too hot yet. Lots of hiking and outdoors stuff to do there. If you want something indoors to do we just got a indoor race track called Pole Position that is pretty cool. There are too many places to drink to suggest just one. The further you get away from the strip the cheaper drinks will be. And if you are staying in a casino stay in one off the strip. They are way cheaper.
Also Mnt Charleston or Valley Of Fire. Some ways better than Red Rock, less crowded and far removed from Vegas.
Cool stuff to do! Pinball Hall Of Fame http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ Vintage arcade games knocks spots off Pole Position. Bonnie Springs is a good laugh too.
