On a side note... it's almost crushing to me that both Radiohead and Portishead will have played in the first fucking bank center. Granted the tours fell outside of the Red Rocks season, but still... i'm dying to see a band I love there. MMJ was pretty good.

Anybody see a 'seminal' show at Red Rocks?
I saw Bjork with Joanna Newsom in 2007, Daft Punk, Arcade Fire, Sigur Ros, REM, Bob Dylan...etc...but before I left Denver those kind of shows at Red Rocks became slim to the ground. Sad.

Yea it seems like '07 was a good year for Red Rocks. One of my friends went to a lot of shows there that summer and it was when the venue first popped up on my radar... I'm sad I didn't make a trip out for the Bjork show (that she went to).

Maybe Sigur Ros will do it next year? Seeing a show at Red Rocks is on my bucket list and I can visit someone in Boulder, so win win. The schedules for this year and last are pretty underwhelming, though.

Saw all those shows in 07 except for Dylan. Really would love to see a show at Red Rocks though.....told myself if Sigur Ros, Bjork, or Radiohead plays there again, I'm going!

ps That's pretty cool that you got Joanna Newsom as an opener for Bjork.....don't remember who opened for Bjork at United Palace/Radio City that year but it definitely wasn't her.

Was it "Einar" with his mic/beatbox/trumpet? That's who i saw open for Bjork in Vancouver May 2007.

No, it was actually Konono No 1 who opened Radio City & United Palace shows. Then Spank Rock was the supporting act at Apollo Theater couple days later....missed Spank Rock b/c I didn't really care for him. Lastly, once she came back again at MSG in the fall, The Klaxons and Santogold opened up for her.....anyway I really hope to catch her at Red Rocks some day but probably doubtful as she said there will only be like 6 cities that she's visiting for this tour.

It's not that bad for shows. Granted, I haven't been there since RATM was touring Battle of LA. They use to have raves there like 2 or 3 times a month. I saw Beastie Boys there in 95 or 96 and it was one of the best shows I've been to. I'm sure you'll enjoy RAMMSTEIN there.

You're thinking Bjork's show in 2003. I believe she had Bonnie Prince open for her then. I've seen the setlist to that show and I can't believe you disliked it.

The main draw for the Dylan show was actually the opener: MMJ.
I had never seen them before then.

I don't know what happened but it just seemed that Red Rocks caters to the more corporate classic rock type shows now. When the Police played there it was something like $150 for the crap seats and Stevie Nicks plays there quite a bit if I remember correctly.
