Coachella iPhone App

As an iPhone user, and because I'm sure there are loads of us who fall into the middle section of a Venn Diagram that goes "iPhone user" and "Coachella freak," I was wondering if there was any word on someone making a nifty Coachella iPhone app, with lineup info/times, etc. I'm not computer awesome enough to do something like this, but I'm really hoping someone out there does us a solid!

Last year there was some sort of shitty website thing available for the festival that I didn't use once. But last year apps weren't around during Coachella.

So I'm sure someone will come up with something this year.

that would be cool to have on the iphone, especially something cool with set times or like a coachooser thing so that it would be on the phone instead of trying to find those little booklets or printing it out or possibly losing it etc...

But because it had to go through a website it was slow as hell, thus crap. If someone were to make an application this year, there wouldn't have to be internet. No EDGE network makes me a happy man.

Why not just download the JPGs of the set times to your iPhone? Seems like it would obviate the need for a Coachella app.

I mean, what would a Coachella app look like? A blank placeholder image in the shape of the poster, updated twice a year with the lineup and the set times?

I just saved the jpgs to my iphone last year and it worked great. Although I didn't have as sketchy service as I did the year prior. I killed my unlocked iphone so I will be blackberry-ing it up this year . . .

I don't get it. Does an iPhone not have internet access? Does it not display .jpgs? Does it not have an organizer that the set-times could be programmed into? Oh wait, it probably doesn't have an organizer, since iTards are such "free-thinking individuals" who can't be tied down to a schedule.

I just made an excel spreadsheet last year. I printed mine out, but you could probably just keep it as a file in your phone. Dunno.

Hell, my phone HAS Excel.

But, I liked programming my organizer, because then it would vibrate 10 minutes before every set. If I wasn't totally in to something I was watching, I'd feel the buzz and say "Hey, you wanna go see ______ instead?"

Though it backfired on Friday, because I didn't pace myself. We saw like 18 partial sets and we wore ourselves out walking back and forth. I was too tired to jump in the crowd for Pendulum.

It is fairly easy to write an iphone app. They even have "iphone apps for dummies".

I don't have an iphone but I know programming...any nerds that have an iphone and wants this. I could show them the way.



It all depends on how the Coachella data is given to us...If Golden Voice wrote an API this would be really easy (need me to write that too? ;/).

If Golden Voice could provide the data as an RSS feed. This would be ubber simple. I believe there are various "RSS feed reader iphone apps". You simply need to provide the Coachella URL.

I guess this is a formal request to Golden Voice...Please make the schedule available via RSS feed so people can easily add it to mobile devices.

Your still in luck if you use the website to create a custom schedule and end up with a spreadsheet/excel file. Most mobile devices have spreadsheet reader applications.

Or you can create the schedule in a high quality image on your computer. Then upload the image to your mobile phone or it's browser.

I can think of other solutions too...it all depends on how the data is given to us.

Yeah, an iPhone app that did something like this would be pretty cool. Some sort of integrated coachooser with alarm settings and a priority list would rock.

All you need to do is get a copy of the schedule in CSV, add reminders 5 or 10 mins before each set time, upload it to your calendar app and you not only have the schedule in your PDA / phone, but you also get alarms to remind you when someone's about to go on.

No Apps required.
