Also, there should be a Megaforce Action Spectular!, where they fight the Truckasaurus, or the giant baby, or high prices.

Nicely done, though I'm still missing Ace Hunter. Come to think of it, where the hell is Fred Dreyer...TV's Hunter!

And actually that would make a great 2nd contest as well. Whoevers Poster wins, there should be a contest to make the set times for that festival and then vote on who made the best set times and stage placements

I'm cooking up an '69, '80, and then I might do one sometimes in the 90's. But I still feel pretty good about my '71 entry.

He definitely threw the whole kitchen sink up there, but they're slotted pretty damn perfect.

I knew you would come back with that...but still, just seems a little odd, given Iron Maiden had headlined festivals prior to that, or at least that same year.

Bureaucrat Menik, you are technically correct. The best kind of correct!

Still, if everyone were perfect, we'd have no use for contests.

Here's my 1990 with some changes. Moved the date to the right. Re-worded the bottom. Re-did sub headliners on Sat. and added one more artist to lower line on Sat in honor of my former subheadliner Prince. Other minor aesthetic changes....
    Feedback?

Templates like those are out there and free for a reason, to save people time and to be used for fun. Which, if I'm not mistaken, is all this contest is for... Who has time to create their own art for a contest that nobody is even sure will lead to anything?

Anyway, I guess, sorry for being industrious and using the internet to find a couple free images for a fictional poster.

    ****SPOILER ALERT****
The next poster I submit will also not feature my own artwork. And neither will the next 50 from anyone else.
I've created everything on my posters.

Looks like I will have to create more posters. At this rate I'll end up doing one for each year. Good Lord.

    Might do 96?

Thanks (if you mean mine). I think my line up is diverse too. I tried to include some originals that no one had.

I'm sure you got permission from Ryan on image use. Even for a contest entry, I'm sure that is copyrighted.

    Ivy's doing 96, I'd appreciate it if you didn't.

Seriously though, calm down a little. Let other people have a chance. You'll win enough.

I think he means its why he put the band on there, not the image.

Any idea if you can win for more than one year? If not hopefully that will make it easier, because if he wins in another year, it may void the others. Thoughts?

I really think the Appearing Live kinda mars what's otherwise a lovely work. I dunno, I just don't get it. I get the aesthetic you were going for, but I always thought those rave flyers were really hacky and ugly. Take that out and just leave the overall look. Also something about the typeface now is a little harder to read for some reason.

EDIT: Just realized what it is. There should be some larger font for the line right below the headliner. It goes too small right away and makes it kinda look strange and ultimately hard to read.

I know this contest is "open" and all, but I really do need to see another winner, before I sit down and do too many more. I can easily let loose and break away from the Coachella "template", but I'm not sure that's the right move. Pretty sure it's not.

    Hmmmm.

What to do, what to do...

It's the black stroke on the type. Without kerning it, some letters run together making that much text seem more difficult to read. Tells me that added the outline later and that's not something within the font family.

If they don't kern the type, then they should thin down the stroke weight, or lose it.

I cant figure out why it is that when I am working on it the black outline is even around the white (its 3pts wider and center-aligned in 2 layers) but when it saves and I see it on here it looks off? I don't want to increase it any more b/c they will start to merge/bleed into other lines.

I'm torn on the appearing live b/c I want the aesthetic and I want it to have something that makes it stand out and relates to a concert, but also has the similarity to the detergent box design..... I don't know. Anyone else have an opinion?

I think you get the awesome originality of the coloring and the detergent box look without some throwaway lettering on there mucking up the landscape. But that's just me.

Is that an outlined font, or did you add the outline?

Kern out the type if you keep that outline. Basically everything from the 4th line down doesn't read well at all.
