just out of curiousity, if we are selecting winners as we go along, when are we gonna start? and who is "we" anyway?
no coachella for me this year. lineup is too weak to fly coast to coast.

me neither dude, just try your hand at it and rely on your lineups to win, rather than design.

I just messed around with the color options for the coachella landscape. Couldn't really separate the two, but since they're on two different colors entirely you can fuck around until it matches whatever color scheme you're going for.

You know, you are quite the judgmental person for somebody who doesn't know how to use photoshop. Thanks for appreciating my design, seriously.

In my defense, my 2 headliners were chosen not solely because I lacked creativity. I wrote my reasons for Floyd/Zeppelin below the poster. When I read about the contest the first thing I thought about was 1973. I had thought about it for a while before actually- I always told my friends that a 1973 Coachella would have been epic because Floyd would have released Dark Side one month prior to the fest, and Zeppelin could have potentially kicked off their Song Remains the Same tour at Coachella. It would have been a perfect storm.

Regardless, my favorite part of my poster is the Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

Your point is taken, though, and I understand that it would be unrealistic for such a large amount of great bands in the 70s to play one festival. But then again, if Woodstock never happened, we would probably be thinking that all the greatest from the 60s would never have played one fest either, which they did.

I was truly stretching my imagination and creativity as far as I could, and I encourage others to do so as well. This contest is about creativity and imagination, and if you want Floyd and Zeppelin playing consecutive days with David Bowie, Bob Marley, and John Lennon playing in between, I say DO IT!

    Good Luck All!

Woodstock had a way, way, way more reasonable lineup than your festival. The only particularly iconic names Woodstock had were Hendrix, Janis, CSNY, Jefferson Airplane, The Dead, CCR, and The Who. If your lineup has bigger names than fucking Woodstock, you might have fucked up.

EDIT: I didn't really mean that to be an indictment against you specifically as you're only one of like 50 people who has already done this. You rock on with your crazy lineup.

    orly? in '72?

the first stadium shows i can find is Chicago in '73, and that was only 20,000 for each show..

in '72, IN CALIFORNIA, they were doing single nights in San Bernardino, The Forum in LA, and San Diego..

in fact, the largest venues they played on the entire '72 North American tour were hockey arenas, and often smaller..

No, not in 72. The argument had expanded beyond 72. People have had Zeppelin on the poster every fucking year until Bonham died. It's lame.

your indictment was of a 72 poster.. your basis for said indictment was claiming they never played a festival, which is the only time the argument ventured out of 1972 during any rebuttal..

if anything, '69 or '72 would be the years MOST likely to have Zeppelin on the poster.. you should have attacked the later posters then..

I made a blanket declaration to everyone in the contest. I'm not going to go through and quote every single fucking poster with Zeppelin on it because it would take forever. I'll attack whatever poster I feel like when the mood strikes me. Know what's even lamer than putting Led Zeppelin as your headliner in 1976? Putting Led Zeppelin as your headliner in 1972 after you've seen half a dozen posters with Led Zeppelin as the headliner in 1973-1979.

maybe I haven't been paying attention but the addition of Elton John to your poster is a good choice. i haven't seen him on any of the other posters. unfortunately, you can't really read any of the other bands because your background is too distracting

Here are two 1981 posters - one a Star Trek Tribute (without any copyrighted material), the other a more antique-looking book-style poster. They share many of the same acts, although the antique one has a few extras:

Love the flamingo. I'd switch Springsteen and REM though. Springsteen was already huge and Born in the USA was about to take over the world. REM, not so much at that point.

Beautiful poster, but you need to dump Michael Jackson. He was touring with The Jacksons that year - the "Victory" tour, and it was huger than huge. As I said in another post - more $$ than any other tour in history.

Mike was huge, but that timing is probably bad.

    here's the 94 i've been working on.
im really pleased with this lineup. and i know that we have been having this "pink floyd is getting overused" argument, but 94 was the division bell, so had there been a coachella, you could COUNT on PF being there....

edit - just for fun, a second rendering

No, you couldn't. Know why? Cause Pink Floyd was selling out Coachella sized venues on their own.
