edit - but you know what, that Nimrod tour was mostly small venues and I remember Chicago barely sold out that year. regardless, good job.

Thanks yeah I'm not particularly fond of Green Day or necessarily endorsing them, we can just say they're that headliner on my poster.

I'm a pretty nice fellow for the most part, so let me start off by sayin, I'll go slightly out of character with this post. I'm only responding to you in this manner, because you started your post with "eat this bitches".

Soooooooo, taking that into account. I'm trying to decide which one of these eye rapes is worse. I do not like either of them.

All kinds of wrong going on in both of them, TOO many things to list.

And take your goddamn phone number off your work. If you are truly a designer - which you claim to be, name me ONE respected designer that puts his/her phone number on what they create?

seriously, what the fuck is up with that? the only reason someone would call you is so you can pay their medical bill after you burnt out their fucking eyeballs with your work.

at least your new poster is actually readable compared to the old disaster. oddly enough, I still don't want to look at it though.

The first design entry was to make something ugly and quick to throw yall off.
As for the number on it, Its a simple numbers game. The more your number is out on your designs, The more chances you have for people find your work and try you out. If its a high paying client, no number is put on it. If its for a low ball client or a frillo then of course you tag it. I get calls from things done more then 4-5 years ago because of numbers circulating on past work.
Atleast mine is original and creative

You can't take advice very well. Listen, don't start off with challenging people with "eat this bitches" when what you serve up is pretty undigestible. If you honestly want feedback - thats one thing, but it seems you don't care.

Yes, yours is "original" alright. I hope you're joking about the first poster thing, because that winning 1977 poster compared to yours is a fucking DaVinci.

Your reasons for that phone number BS are complete wrong and completely backward. If I was a small client, I wouldn't want your shitty number on my product. Period. That practice makes you and your client seem and remain small time. I've offered this advice to you before, but for some odd reason you think you know better? So, now I say please leave those amazing posters, as they are. They are original masterpieces that can not be improved upon.

from a traditional design standpoint they're hard to justify. they just seem to purposely throw out every fundamental principle of design, in terms of presenting information clearly, aesthetically, funcionally, etc. i almost get the feeling you're fucking the the viewer, as if to evoke an "is this guy serious" sort of response. this leads me to the possible but unlikely scenario that you are fully aware of how disheveled and unattractive the pieces are, and have other aims in mind.

perhaps these could be read as an intentional anti-design 'fuck you' to the viewer. but this raises the question of why. could this work be a critique of the contest itself? and by extension a critique of capitalism's demand that we compete to survive? is it a comment on the subjective nature of taste? does this work decry the over-saturation of media that bombards us in contemporary consumer society, by seeking to depict this confusing and nauseating condition visually? what is the artist really saying?

The Smashing Pumpkins weren't headliners in 1991. In fact they were probably unknown outside of Chicago at that point. I remember I had tickets to see Guns n' Roses and they were the openers and me and some high school friends thought the name was funny. Maybe make G n' R your headliner.

Nah it's not that by itself, more funny than anything. Challenge is the wrong word. It's that coupled with the hard-headed "defense" of the entry I guess. A few pages back i was honestly trying to help, but now I don't care.

I hope he/she leaves things as they are.

I haven't "boarded" with you in a while faxman, how's things?

Same. Still loving life, Still rooting for my lame ass Blue Jackets, Cubs and Buckeyes.

I'm actually going to do more than one festival this year, including a trek out to the desert, pretty excited for it. Good line up (as usual) this year. Can't complain. After seeing Jigga last year at APW, I know it's gonna be a good show on that front.

I kind of like that design, but I'd spend a little time fixing the chunky "Coachella" image if you're going to blow it up to that size.

I would never feature a giant picture of an artist, unless they were a tried-and-true visual icon, and at that point Kurt certainly wasn't. In retrospect, he was, of course.

Like... if you featured KISS on a 70s poster, I could see playing off the greasepaint, or Bowie or Elton's costumes and wierd looks. But... it's an inventive design, so roll with what you like. I'd still hack away on that Coachella image, though, since it looks worse the bigger it gets. Probably only take an hour or so to smooth it out nicely.

he could trace it with pen tool in illustrator and simplify the path to get it smooth, that would be like 15 mins
