Not in NYC, but in California they would've brought a bigger crowd. Not that it matters, neither one should be a second line band that year.

I'd say not outside the Bay area actually. Day on the Green was in Oakland right?

but you are right neither one should be there.

This is really cool man! Major props on painting it. Since you have time, you should make the names of the bands bigger. I can't read most of them. Don't get disqualified for that!

Yeah, it was, but bikers like to ride, y'know. By the way, i met your friend Blair from Columbus last year, so hopefully we'll get to meet up this year. My cousin from Florida will be out here for his first show, so it should be a blast. Here's his poster, let me know what you think. I'll post my 1991 soon.

I don't want to quote posters for length of post reasons but the octopus poster has Ramones twice (Saturday and Sunday) and I'd hate to see a poster that had that much effort put into it get knocked for a little mistake. I also don't think Cocteau Twins would be billed that high in 1984 in the states or even billed at all since The Pink Opaque (their first official US release) wasn't released until January of '86.

The Ramones had a top 50 album and like 5 others to hit the top 100 by 1985. That's not enough for 3rd billing?
    Ron Paul 2012!

    Upcoming Shows:
    Four Tet
    Coachella 4/20-4/22

Whoa, there is a little too much animosity on here. This is supposed to be a friendly competition between people who are stoked on Coachella. I really hope the negativity on this thread isn't a preview of the vibes this year at coachella. I'm just trying to win a ticket to Coachella because I as of now I won't be able to afford it otherwise. Sorry if my lineup doesn't fulfill your idea of 1987 Coachella, but for me, my poster would constitute be an epic weekend.

Ramones had an album that reached 44 in 1979. That was their highest charting album.

the westside connection billing is a curious one.

other than that, the line up is good.

Yes. I'm saying that you're a fucking idiot. Their albums around 85 barely even cracked the top 100. Fever To Tell was platinum.

    Don't apologize to me.

Dude, there were many posts trying to help you out... your line-up is seriously out of whack. I gave you a heads up on the Pixies billing, but you choose to ignore that... which is fine, no big deal to me.

Most people on here have spent hours trying to make a realistic poster with a logical billing, yours looks like you picked your favorite bands out of a hat.

It's nobody's idea fulfilled of an 1987 Coachella if it doesn't make sense.

Hell I'd make a 1970 poster with the Stones, Doors, Beatles, Kinks, Elvis, all on day one, but that doesn't make sense and it isnt very realistic.

If you truly want to win this thing, realistic billing is part of it.

It was only a thousand times easier to sell albums in 1985 than it was 20 years later.

Its basically Cube, in both his heyday, and that of the East Coast - West Coast battles. Coachella's obviously his turf.

Yeah I think people on this board are likely to vastly underestimate or misremember Westside Connection's popularity.

I really hope he doesn't get fucked over for that. He wanted to just put Cube, and I said, "No, Westside Connection would be better." War & Peace Vol. 1 was 98, so he woulda been playin those.

Hopefully, whoever is judging these remembers.

Too bad such a good poster is marred by having Fleetwood Mac Headline over The Beatles, The Who, and Simon & Garfunkel. MADNESS.

Actually, you should crop them. Don't seem to be any reason they should be that high or wide.

Worse yet, there is a little tiny band called The KINKS getting ousted by the likes of The Nice, Turtles, CTA, Tiny Tim, Casinos, Stooges, (fucking Nico???), Canned Heat Terry Riley.. etc...

    WRONG WRONG WRONG!

This. Even though you're billing a 3day festival; if you have a single lineup, always put the biggest band first, regardless of what day they are playing. Thus, Beatles should be first.

    Or you're just fucking crazy.
