Franck being billed over Puccini is ridiculous.

I should have put Depeche Mode (acoustic set).

I might do a 50s one or a 40s one for fun, but I gotta squeeze in as much as I can (one or two at the speed I'm progressing...) before the end of February. I didn't fathom how much fun it could be just researching music to put on a poster. I am far more educated about 60s bands than I was last week.

I hope submissions are still being accepted for 1981! I've got 2 versions of the same lineup, and I'm prepared for any re-educating on my lineup and order of band placement. I'll tell you what, this was a fun challenge and educational experience, and all the posters are outstanding. There's definitely some tough competition amongst you music nerds, but I couldn't let that stop me from giving it a go!

The Replacements' first album didn't come out til August 81. they didn't really get noticed nationally til 83 with Hootenanny.

Joan Jett should be billed as Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.

in 1981 The Cars were definitely bigger than The Police.

David Byrne, not Byrnes. and he wasn't playing solo gigs in 81.

At least you spelled Oates right.

Having REO Speedwagon (among others) at Coachella 81 would be like having Nickelback at Coachella 06. Doesn't seem like a fit to me. But if you're going to have Van Halen, they should be billed much higher. Certainly above REO and Benatar.

Nice touch with The Tubes though. That's a good choice.

They don't do acoustic sets. Even at almost-acoustic KROQ Christmas do they not do acoustic sets. You know, because of all the synths.

i think the only reason Tin Machine would be that high on the poster is because Bowie is in it.

Well they're on the bottom of the poster, so if you're gonna argue this you have to argue against Jupiter's Ring being on the bottom of the poster.

Thanks for the tips, TomAz. Honestly, like someone said earlier, in doing this poster and all the research involved, I may not have gotten timelines or placement right, but I sure have learned a lot about groups I'd otherwise forgotten or grown up and away from. Back to the drawing board, I guess!
