A few quibbles: Asia was huge, and would be way higher than Psychic TV; Camouflage didn't actually release anything until like 1987; Power Station and Arcadia were both Duran Duran side-projects, so not sure if it the line-up is feasible--and both would be listed much higher; love you've got Julio Iglesias, who was being promoted hard that year; and Menudo would have never appeared at any Coachella. Nice work!

I decided to take the classic Coachella poster look along with a limited set list because the first Coach had at most 40 bands on the first day

So I have a sick poster designed but now I have to research which bands will be playing.............

There are some really rad posters on here...

And then there are some horrible ones. Alot of em look like someone just downloaded some brushes for photoshop and smacked em on there.
I hope to god none of those win.

I've decided to hit 1971 hard, upgrade my current entry and have some cool looking follow up styles and line ups for that year.

will be curious to see the landslide that hits this weekend of poster entry's.

Reverse that theory and you'd be on the right track.

Not as big a mistake as Don Henley, however.

Also, Dire Straits is billed too low.

Kudos for including both those sky spotlights we've all grown to love, and a disco ball as a moon. Perfect for 78. Lineup is good too. There could have been an all-star jam during the Bee Gees slot that could've including Jeff Lynne (ELO), and Harrison.

    Nice work tomleach.

I wish the type used for the bands in the 1970 one, wasn't so bland. The type they used is a very modern computer type, & the masthead looks hand drawn, so there is a little disconnect. Also there is no hierarchy in the lineup... but that's me being picky i guess.

The rest of the poster is really good though.

The 1987 cassette one is a good idea, but it is much more a FLYER, and not so much a POSTER.

Some of these posters have me making mix CDs in my head.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

    You're being picky.

That poster style is perfect for the time period. Go back and look at examples from that era.

Great job, orignlskin. My favorite entry by far.

You really think an ex-Beatle is gonna take a backseat to anyone?

The Carpenters probably had more record sales than anyone else on your Sunday lineup. Too low.

Joy Division in 1978? no. They didn't even start recording their first album until 1979. that's a research fail.

bob marley headline the sb bowl in 79. You gotta have a good following to play, granted it only seats a little over 4000 people but when you factor in the sizeof the city and the fact that when people usually play the bowl they will have an arena show in LA. And you gotta be somebody to get Santa Barbarans our of their house.

Yeah I'm fine with that Bob Marley placement as well. He was selling out 2-5000 seat venues in 1978/1979. Don't really care for him as a sub, but that's my tastes only.

I know I am being picky, I kinda admitted to that, but you're wrong.

Computer-based fonts were not perfect for that time-period. I have a good collection of posters (actual physical posters) from that era... 99% have HAND DRAWN or hand-set typography.

Again it was more about the great header matching the (body) font style.

    It's still a good entry.

Ramones billing seems ok to me, their discography to that point: Ramones (1976), Leave Home (1977), Rocket to Russia (1977), Road to Ruin (1978)... plus TONS of touring in 77/78. They are only on the 4th line that day, so that's seems right on to me.

Joy Division had a single in 1977, & an EP out in early 1978. Tony Wilson was already their manager in 1978. and they prolly did more live shows than anyone that year, so, I'm fine with them on that lineup as well. It's not like they have them headlining. It would be very in the vibe of Coachella to get a band like JD there in 78. For example... DELPHIC who are playing this year, just released an album this past month, and have only been around a year or so... plus none of their releases are available here in the states.

You're right - the Carpenters could be moved up, but i don't think it's a huge deal.

I think Harrison would be fine being second bill. Lennon /McCartney, prolly not.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I do appreciate it. I've gone ahead and made a few minor adjustments based on the discussion, most notably switching the Commodores and the Carpenters around. Makes sense.

If I win, and you guys can find me, I'll buy you a beer.
