So, someone wins 7 times (or what the fuck ever), people win even though their lineups are shite or suspect or CONTAIN GLARING MISSPELLINGS, and now someone wins through blatant plagiarism. Great job on the organization of a fucking contest, guys. Honestly, pat yourselves on the backs for being completely retarded.
Here's a thought: Before you offhandedly declare a contest, maybe actually put some thought into guidelines, and then actually enforce them *ahem "DO put the name of the year in the upper right hand corner" ahem*
from the people who brought us "ROXANNE"...it's half-assed clusterfuck contest '10!

It just struck me, this is a valid contest, with something of monetary value being given away...it is subject to LAWS...and I think plagiarizing someone else's poster design to win something that's worth 300 dollars is AGAINST THE FUCKING LAW.
Do your research before handing out tickets you lazy idiots.
i'm wondering what posters C DUBYA did not like. maybe you can make your own contest? and award another deserving poster for that year. you know, like a teacher with a fat red pen and awesome prizes in the treasure box?
I just now realized the prize was actual tickets and not just VIP upgrades. I'm a fucking idiot.
It never ceases to amaze how some can find such negativity in something so inherently positive.
Depends, there were a few naturally, but my opinion really doesn't matter.
I'd also say there are different reasons for not liking posters... from a visual design or line-up perspective? Design wise, what appeals to me, obviously doesn't appeal to everyone (I can't stand emek's posters for example, but a lot of people love them)
On a completely different, positive note, boarderwoozel13, I am listening to Are We Here? and all is well in the world knowing we get to see Orbital very soon.

Oh that's right, I forgot, rewarding plagiarists with coachella tickets is "inherently positive". The promoters had good intentions, so it's okay for cheaters to win. Great.
WOW. This is totally unacceptable. If you submit a poster, it damn well better be yours. I retract my approval. "orignl", my ass. What a dick.
Kudos to everyone who worked hard and put their best efforts into their very own creations, whether you won, or not. That speaks volumes. (I realize that is small consolation for all you hoping to win.) And I admit I was greatly perplexed by some of the winners (some of my faves didn't make the cut), but such is life. Disappointing to be sure, but not earth-shattering.
Mmmm I sense frustration.
I'll agree that the judges should have looked into the misspellings. I mean, it's designed to be an actual coachella lineup, and we approached it that way in the sense that we should have made sure everything was spelled appropriately and whatnot. The designers who make the actual posters do this, so I believe that it's fair the judges do it too.
The whole "year in the right place" argument is ridiculous. Who cares? If the year is clearly visible on the poster, then that's fine in my book.
This is the problem with impromptu contests. While they're always fun, these kind of problems/arguments surface with the results.
How were they supposed to research this shit when it comes to background images? Google image every possible word in existence to figure this out? They don't know every corner of the internet and neither do we.
Also, they didn't say we couldn't use another image (stop me if i'm wrong), so you can't call the user out on that claim, but does using that image the dude used raise a copyright infringement from the source? I dont want to say yes/no because I'm not sure on this kind of thing.
boyalien, can you please go cry somewhere else on the internet?
menik - all in good time.
