Spelled Garfunkel right, at least.
No, don't, don't cut my hair, Ned loves my hair.

thank you.... yes it is ripped up construction paper. Took a little bit longer than I thought... almost didn't bother with it.

Okay, cleaned it up some and switched a few things around. Now I'm wondering if Paul T. has ever just thrown his arms up in the air and said, "Fuck it! That's it! I'm not changing another thing on this lineup?"
I'll tell you what, he certainly has all my respect for what he does for us...By no means an easy task around here, that's for sure. Again, 1981...
You forgot to put Air Supply on Friday.
Queen is arguably the second biggest band on your lineup, at the time. Glad to see them playing behind Human League
*based upon tedious fact checking.
This is an educated guess and could be wrong, but I'm thinking that by 1981, Simon & Garfunkel had sold more records in the US than Queen had. And there they are, playing behind the Psychedelic Furs. Who, in 1981, had yet to have a hit and crack anything more than college radio.
Two things I like most about Brokendoll's poster:
1) She was actually alive in 1981, so there's really no excuse for how mind-numbingly oblivious she is to these issues.
2) She claims to have spent hours researching this lineup but apparently never in the course of that found out anything about Queen, Simon & Garfunkel, or most of the other bands on her lineup.
damn....Zurdok Movimento
"serenity now!!!...."
4 more days to submit!
Any word on where the winners are going to be announced? (First post of this thread or the gallery on the website)
"It's in the K" - Martha Stewart
Since the show list is very minimal...
August 29 // Chemical Brothers w/ Chromeo & Yacht @ Hollywood Bowl
September 26 // Vampire Weekend w/ Beach House & the Very Best @ Hollywood Bowl
October 5 // ARCADE FIRE @ Henry Miller Library
October 13 // Corin Tucker Band @ The El Rey
(someone should give me Sufjan Stevens tickets, aint got none of those)
New contest: poster soundtrack. Same basic rules, song must exist by that year, don't overthink. Winner gets a free soju. Of course, this being the Coachella board, you are all winners.
If anyone puts together a "Coachella movie" of vids, you win Sumatra, Equatorial Guinea, and Wyoming. Not that anyone wants Wyoming.
No, don't, don't cut my hair, Ned loves my hair.
Mostly a great poster, but no way that Elvis Costello would be a headliner at any point in his career--certainly not in 1993 when he was backed by a string quartet. I appreciate that you are trying a new headliner, but I'd put this as extremely unlikely. Otherwise, good stuff.
Oh, my, ha,ha,ha! I also forgot to put that the festival was sponsored by Jose' Cuervo too. Dammit.
See above. Should I just post all these scratches and scribbled notes that are laying here in a giant clusterfuck? LOL In any case, yeah, getting the lineup in the correct order wasn't my strongest point. That might have something to do with the system I used...4 stages, each with a certain style, and a few times where bands overlapped. I was hoping to keep everybody happy at the festival. Of course that theory goes all to shit once you see Air Supply for the 3rd time, I guess.
Why yes, I most certainly was alive in 1981. In fact, I was 21 years old. I can't say Jose Cuervo would have been a sponsor during that time but the Marijuana and Black Beauties sure were! Not to mention my interest in music consisted pretty much of Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Aerosmith during that phase. And, as far as Queen goes? Not one of my favorites, and I pretty much only remember "Another One Bites the Dust" at my wedding.
Anyway, do I get atleast a golf clap for my poster background and general layout? I took that picture looking towards the festival from my backyard...
Ok here' goes. Lotta good posters for '93, i'm scared of you. Good job everyone.

the Rush/Primus tour of the early nineties was one of the largest grossing of the decade. shocking that nobody has really represented either band on these early 90's posters.
monklish, does ID crust = BD? i thought it smelled like a musty basement in here. just trying to figure out why.
Lick an orange, it tastes like an orange. Lick a pineapple, it tastes like a pineapple. Go ahead, try it. Try some more. The strawberries taste like strawberries. The snozzberries taste like snozzberries! We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams. Come along, come along.
Nice job ZooPerson...
thanks... that was a tough decision.... just deciding who would go up top each day.
i will post a link to a larger image later.... My favorite part about it is that all of the type has a construction paper texture....but you can't see that from this.

Here is my entry for a 1970 Coachella poster. It is different the rst of these I guess. I made it in the style of the times, and used less bands to fit how festivals were booked at the time.
I hope everyone enjoys it. I am working on a 1980 one maybe tonight.

good luck to everybody
