I'm hoping the lineup has more weight than the poster art. Some of you have killer skills. My photoshop skills are for naught. Plus, people don't go to festivals because of how the poster looks.

It's all good. I was kind of looking forward to the mad dash when there was like one year unnanounced and everyone would be scrambling and there would be like 100 posters. haha. I already bought my ticket anyways and I don't really care if I get VIP or not. I'm travelling with others who won't be vip so I don't even know how much I'd use it.

That said I'd still really like to win just to say I won and to have the VIP option.

i think that should count for something. i worked hard on making my lineups feasible and appropriate, and got to work FAST because initially the winners were going to be declared as the posters were being made. changing the ruling on winners kinda fucked the people who were trying to get theirs out in a quick manner.



edit - i have had fun learning photoshop though, so i suppose if i dont win, thats gratifying too. but i was like "gotta get these posters out quick! winners soon.... aaaaaand that worked against me, i feel.

I thought the winners were supposed to be announced by the end of Feb and at random times. Not as they were posted. I put mine up quick and early so that it would be ready to be judged and maybe being first would get bonus points. If not I also had more time to improve mine.

hahaha chut up j/k ... you all just assume that they will pick a winner anytime/just like what they did for 1977 so you made some posters/sent your entries in a hurry or whatever (menik's poster/entry is brilliant & deserving IMO ... however, they should let others make some 1977 posters for an alternate winner since menikmati/our good friend is a moderator of this board and so we could see others thoughts about it ... erik should keep/get his much deserved prize)

from the few that i've seen, the poster designs are great (but ...). however, overall most entries i've seen lack originality/uninventive/with unbelievable/unrealistic billing & lineup issues/lineups meh (NOW GO FIX THEM! heh heh) ... if I think I cannot make better posters than what have been submitted so far am not going to submit mine

Well Arman it was originally stated in the first post that "winners will be selected as we go along", so I can understand the confusion/frustation I guess.

This is a really cool thing for GV to do - I mean they're offering nearly 30 tickets for free here. And seeing as it seems like GV is pretty much playing by the contest by ear, more power to them. Not everything will work out perfect the first time around.

Also, if I recall correctly, the original rules stated that you could use reunion acts, however, it appears that has changed. Will posters that had reunions be held accountable?

Pretty sure Dani would call this overcomplicating on your part. She discussed it back on page three or something. A band existing doesn't mean a band not on hiatus. It means the band has to have been formed by then and the people have to be alive or whatever.

as long as the band existed by the year you are doing. (broken up or not). born, existed, not died

I had a totally wrong reunion on mine and I was called on it. I'm sure it's cool that people have a reunion on their poster. You would think it would be encouraged.

I also love that Mr Sparkle avatar. It should be one of the posters and just throw a date on it.

i'm just grateful the contest exists period. they don't HAVE to give away free tickets for ANYTHING. so while the judging may be unclear, i'm ok with it because i planned on buying a ticket regardless, so to me winning would be more like a bonus.
