I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, here, but it's preposterous that Smashing Pumpkins would be headlining in April 1991, and few people has any idea who NIN and Cypress Hill were.

Plus, Pearl Jam didn't even RECORD "Ten" until March of '91. Sorry.

Yeah. I was going to have Pearl Jam headlining in mine, until I noticed that. I also decided against Nirvana headlining because Nevermind came out in September of '91 and not many people outside of Seattle would have known about them at this point.

Someone also commented at me putting the Vaselines as a headliner...okay, perhaps they weren't as big as some of the other bands, but...eh. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

(I'm reading through most of the posts before I post this so I don't have a number in a row) and the Pumpkins comment is right. Gish came out a short while after the show would have taken place, but sometimes bands play before their first album comes out. They don't headline though.

And now, I'll just stop, to avoid being redundant/a jackass.

Check your spelling on Madonna and The Ramones. De La Soul didn't exist until 1987. Phish didn't have a studio album released by 1986, so their following would have been minimal. The Who were broken up in 1986.

I was going to put like a marijuana leaf faded in the background but thought better of it. I think the green is prob good enough.

Yeah I'm thinking about making some changes to my poster, or just doing a new one. I seem to be the more popular of the two 1991 posters (relatively speaking), but I'm sure now that I'm not sleep deprived I can make mine better.

Figured out the header issue, so here's the 1971 version with the standard Coachella header.

and for the person who asked, yes I know about Wendy Carlos, Wendy Carlos was still WALTER Carlos in 1971. Her surgery didn't happen until 1972 and She didn't go by Wendy professionally till 1975.

I'll go back and fix the other headers soon-ish

How bout just posting one or two of those if all you are doing is changing a the shade of the sky?

I know, I’ll keep that in mind, but I remember them saying “Enter as many times or years as you want”, and even the smallest change (like the shade of the sky) makes it look different and can make the difference!!

Best one all around so far. If their was Coachella in 86 I believe the poster would have looked a lot like that. Nice touch with the Harring artwork too. Very cool.

i just really, really like the Zombies. a lot more than i like the Byrds. i was trying to be more inventive/creative with the lineup than just what you might expect. i think Coachella is always a little surprising (in a good way) with the lineup, and that's part of what makes it stand out from the others.

I agree with this for the most part. I think sometimes it's a matter of opinion as far as the billing goes. As for this year, there are quite a few bands that I would expect to be far higher on their days. I think the billing can be open to interpretation, with obvious exceptions of course. Who's to say that one band wouldn't play over another for a certain year? There are many things to factor in. Maybe a band couldn't get to the venue in time to play whenever or had to leave early and couldn't headline? These are figments of our imagination. Let them be just that. As much as I wish that most of them had existed.
