Alright, I made a run at 1996.. any excuse to get Jeff Buckley, RATM, Sonic Youth, The Ramones, Spacehog.... etc. on a poster.

I would totally go to this show, especially if it had zombie Jeff Buckley and Joey Ramone... and zombie Tupac, why not?

Btw - I did my 1972 and 1996 posters on a Macbook using Gimp, a free Photoshop alternative that's available on both Mac and PC, and I used Wikipedia and a bunch of other websites to locate the undercard bands and confirm bands weren't broken up/dead/etc. I don't think I have any egregious errors, but if I do, feel free to let me know.

Also, feel free to PM me if you have any questions, I probably won't make any more posters, but this was a lot of fun. Thanks to GV for the contest, and Erik for the inspiration!

I think the 1977 poster that won is missing artists that could have played in the Sahara tent. It's all rock bands. Where are KC and the Sunshine band, Earth Wind and Fire, Gloria Gaynor, and Donna Summer??? They were huge that year and could have headlined Sahara. Where is ABBA?!?!?! Dancing queen came out around 1976, didn't it?

Another thing that it's missing is OLDER than 1977 bands. Coachella always has old school bands play. There should be some bands from the 50s on there!

yea, im in md, but the girlfriend lives in DC, so thats pretty much where i always am. you're going to the fest i assume?

i wish i were better at photoshop, but i think this was a pretty good introduction for me. and while my poster isn't technically great, i think the lineup is accurate and awesome.

Mad respect to you guys that do this every year in Erik's contest. That was fucking hard. 1985 was not a great year for music. Bruce Springsteen and Tina Turner were large and in charge.
