    u can walk around the show with a beer? i read that u have to stay in the garden...is this true?

    lame....i dont understand why they would do that...at lollapalooza last year u could buy it then walk around and check shit out as u wished

    I believe it has to do with either local laws/regulations or insurance. I'm pretty sure that it's meant to prevent underage drinking.

    Though it does become frustrating to run over to a beer garden for each drink, the reduction of trash is worth it. It's nice being able to flop down pretty much anywhere on the grass and not land in spilled beer or on a pile of garbage.

    Can't say as much for other festivals. I went to Download in the UK last year and it was exceedingly filthy... but maybe metal fans are less concerned in general.
