Yeah that just means they will play before Gorillaz, it doesn't mean they will be on the same stage etc.. also I doubt the exact set times are even close to being finished yet. We should really just give these threads a rest for a month at least, until we start to learn more.

This doesn't, by any means, indicate the order of the performances. If that were the case, it would go Pavement > Phoenix > Thom Yorke > Gorillaz. I think we should assume Pavement before Gorillaz because of billing order.
    thhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssss.

come on, really people? The reason Thom Yorke's name is written last is either fluke or the writer knows people will recognize his name. This is not an indication of order, nor is it even a Paul Tollett quote. That's just the way the writer chose to frame his words.

Same thing here - we don't actually know that Gorillaz is closing the fest because it's not a quote or even a paraphrase. It's just the writer's words, and he could easily be making an assumption.

In the original desert sun article, the one that confirmed Muse, Gorillaz and Jay-Z as headliners about an hour before the line up was released, it said that in an inteview with Paul Tollet he says Gorillaz would be following Thom Yorke.

Go find it yourself if you want to. I am way too fucking lazy.

That just means they aren't playing after Gorillaz, it doesn't definitively state that it will go Thom Yorke > Gorillaz, although that could be the case. But i think we should assume Pavement will play right before because of billing. At least until we hear something else.

Oh yeah, that article was pretty poorly written, as I remember it, I don't think we should consider it as a valid source or confirmation for time slots. The actual quote is:

"Sunday will also feature the recently reformed Pavement, the Grammy-nominated French band Phoenix and a solo set by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke before a multimedia performance show by Gorillaz closes the festival."

....and if we follow that logic, the mainstage would look like Pavement>Phoenx>Thom>Gorillaz, which can't be correct.

All I can find are quotes naming a bunch of acts that will be before Gorillaz. Not to beat a dead horse, but the point is, Pavement, Phoenix, and Thom will all be "before Gorillaz."

I think Thom makes more sense, from a music standpoint, but fully expect it to be Thom Yorke --> Pavement --> Gorillaz.

I could see De La Soul and Spoon being switched. There's usually a main stage rap act every year/(day?) anyway. It does seem a tad early for Spoon.

I would agree that Spoon is too early, but I don't think anything could be done other than swapping them with Phoenix; they're not leap-frogging anybody else on the Coachella Stage.

I would expect the Big Pink to play later in the day and, therefore, probably in a tent. Maybe the Gobi. I'd flip them with Florence and the Machine and then flip Florence and the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.

I'd switch Julian Casablancas and Matt & Kim, and then switch Matt & Kim and Sunny Day Real Estate.

    Spoon is pretty early.
why don't we switch them with Sly & the Family Stone?
    hmm.. ponder it.

you guys think Julian Casablancas could even pull off a Main Stage show? especially early in the day? I mean, it's definitely possible. But it's like setting him up for a shitty set.

Hm. Did you guys miss my idea of switching De La Soul and Spoon? Is there a problem with that?

and Julian Casablancas into Spoon would be cool. I don't think he'll be main.

Maybe switch Julian Casablancas with Del La Soul, then switch Spoon with De La Soul.

    I could see that working.

And I don't care what that desert sun article meant, I am pretty sure Sunday night will look like this.

    Main:
    Gorillaz 9:30-11
    Thom Yorke 7:55-8:45
    Pavement 6:30-7:30

    Sahara:
    Orbital: 11-12

Yeah I agree with this. De La Soul midday on the main would actually be pretty fun. I think Spoon would play after De La Soul especially if they are on the main.

Unless organizers are cool with Orbital going until 12:30, 60 minutes isn't going to cut it.

It's not that early for Spoon. It's an especially stacked day and bands of their level have played similar slots before. If they switch with Sly's current slot, that would mean they are the band that people have the option to check out during the downtime before Gorillaz, and they aren't big or rare enough for that.

Julian Casablancas will play with some darkness behind him what with that light show he's touring.

Matt and Kim will fill the void of mid-tier act that plays in the middle of the afternoon on the main stage.

    what if...

    EDIT: i meant..
    Main:
De La Soul > Spoon > Yorke > Pavement > Gorillaz

    Outdoor:
Jonsi > Julian > Phoenix > Sly > Gary Numan

And rage, I really, really hope you're right. And I do kind of think you're right.
That'd put Pavement at Sunset (more appropriate), Thom at night > Gorillaz.

Damn, Chemical Brothers got 90 min? I didn't realize that.

What if they don't need a big gap of time to set up Gorillaz?

I've been saying Pheonix late at night on the Outdoor for a while and everyone shot me down. I remember an interview from the lead singer not too long ago where he said they will only be accepting music festival offers that put them on after dark due from that point on.

Alright, I just totally reworked Sunday. I referred HEAVILY to set times from the last two years as well as billing vs. time slot. What I have now looks completely realistic in terms of scheduling.

I think you guys are right, Phoenix will totally be on the Outdoor at night.
I think Julian Casablancas will get the Beirut slot. (Beirut was billed third line last year)
NO ONE will play the Outdoor during Gorillaz. (no one did during Jack Johnson, Prince, Macca, Waters)
Moved De La Soul to the Main, and bumped up Spoon.
    Moved Florence to the Outdoor.
    Moved Yann to the Gobi?

Tell me if you want this to be make this the update or not:
(I think this should be the update)

    One thing though:
    - Jonsi and Julian both need to play at night? Both have video/lights? Which plays the Mojave?

    UPDATED
