Band of Skulls claims to be playing at 5pm (via myspace).

I realize that this seems unlikely, based on billing, but it's definitely possible, right? Gobi perhaps?

EDIT: It IS possible. Tinariwen was billed dead last on Saturday last year, and they got a 6:15 spot in the Gobi. So, might as well trust Band of Skulls for now.

it's definitely possible. (I was thinking Beach House would get the Tinariwen spot though)
If they are playing at 5, the Gobi is the only place that'd happen.

I just talked to Michelle Golding, daughter of Lynvall Golding of The Specials on facebook. She said, as far as she knows, The Specials have not beed told what time or what stage they will be playing on. All they know is that they have to show up the morning of April 16th and play a gig. She said she will let me know if she finds out.

Based on this... why the fuck are you trusting all these bands' myspace? Remember how Throbbing Gristle told us they were playing at 7pm? And X said they were playing at 4? Well... they lied to us! If The Specials don't even know, why would all these small bands knows Im guessing these bands are either just choosing an arbitrary time to start their set or they are guestimating what time they will play.

I'm well aware that the myspace times aren't concrete. But it's kind of all we have to work with. just as a ballpark figure.

But I think the times for the smaller acts like Hassan, Steel Strain, Hadouken, Paparazzi seem accurate. don't you?

And yeah, that was some bullshit with Throbbing Gristle. But it was X's official website that said 4 pm. So if we can't even trust an artist's official site, should we just ignore any times acts claim to be playing?

I'm sure it's just GV moving bands around at the last minute being the reason X and Throbbing Gristle didn't play at the times they had been announced.

As long as it doesn't say 8pm (default) or 12pm (festival start time), might as well consider it valid until there is info otherwise.

Les Claypool... at 2!? So, uh, second band on the Outdoor? That just seems weird and wrong.

hmm.. strange.. but. that's the argument that was made earlier.
That Claypool is "too big" for the Mojave and even playing during the day would be fine.
I guess if Liars can do it, Claypool can.. Still weird though.

I'm guessing that it's going to be a similar lineup to Les Claypool's Fancy Band. I'm assuming that one or more of the older lineup won't be there, otherwise it would have been billed as his Fancy Band.

wow dorkfish... that's a crazy find.
    here's my thought:

Given Les Claypool's billing, and IF he's playing at 2.. it would actually make sense for him to play the Main. Is that insane? or.. what? what do you think?

As long as it wouldn't be in the early afternoon. I'm strongly against putting great singers in such a shitty, masochistic time frame on the main stage.

I loved her in Mojave and she brought a great crowd with her. I'd love for her to recreate that vibe.

That is insane. They wouldn't put him on the main.

This is what I mean about myspaces though... who knows if this is accurate at all.

Either way, if you want to place him at 2... put him on the Outdoor.

Yes. They will put Sia on the mainstage at night on Saturday. Because that makes a lot of sense.

Look at past Coachella set times, if a band play at night in a tent, and returns to Coachella, they usually play the mainstage/outdoor during the day. Example Gogol Bordello in 2007 closing the Mojave. Then Gogol Bordello in 2008 playing at 5 on the mainstage. Or it can work vice versa. Example, Animal Collective 2006 on the Outdoor. Then, Animal Collective in 08 at night in the mojave. Sia will not be returning to the tents, she will either be outdoor or mainstage mid-day.
