Gossip in the Sahara is completely unreasonable. Some of their earlier stuff is basically riot grrl meets garage rock. And they still play that stuff live. Even though their new album is basicaly disco, nooooo way they play the Sahara.

I never said they will not play the main stage. I just don't think it will be in the daylight.

We know for a fact that Tiesto and Muse are playing the mainstage. Are you saying MGMT will play before Muse? Because if you are, that means FNM would either play before MGMT or they would play the outdoor theatre. Neither of those are happening.

Sunset typically starts at about 7:30 at Coachella. The sun is basically gone by 8:00.

Strange, I remember the sun going down about half way through TVOTR's set. They started at 6:25.... the band even commented on it.

I remember in 08 showing up to Death Cab's set just as they were ending to get a good spot for Kraftwerk. That was at 7:20 and when I started to notice the sun going down. A few minites later I noticed it getting cooler. It was 7:50 when Kraftwerk started and the sun was showing its last signs of life behind the mountains. 10 minutes later it was basically pitch black.

Also, the "sunset" band on the Outdoor typically starts at 7:30 and plays through the sunset.

8 on the Main (8 is tops!)
10 on the Outdoor (no way in hell)
10 in the Gobi (it's possible)
10 in the Mojave (it's been done, especially since John Waters is Sat.)
and
9 in the Sahara. (you could even fit 12)

The Outdoor Theater has packed in 9 acts every saturday for the last 3 years.* You don't think it's conceivable that they could start a little early or end a little late in order to squeeze in that 10th act?

And since Tiesto will be closing out the Main Stage at that time rather than the headliner, I think it's even more likely that GV will keep the Outdoor running until midnight rather than closing it early so as not to limit people's options if they don't want to be subjected to Tiesto.

*Not to mention the fact that from 2004-2006 they packed in 10+ artists each saturday.

Because their new album is much slower than their other releases. Granted, they'll play a handful of their hit dancey songs, but it still seems unlikely that GV would deliberately slow the energy of the Sahara down (even if Tiesto is going "off" on the main)

Also, because 2ManyDjs will be closing the Sahara.

I'm going to post what I've got now.
It's not perfect but its a shit of a lot better than what we've got now.

I'm sticking with Gossip during Tiesto unless anyone can come up with a feasible alternative that DOESN'T include leaving 9 acts in the Sahara while there are 10 on the Outdoor, Mojave and Gobi.

And maybe there's a Sahara act or two to be added? There weren't many Sahara acts on Saturday of 07...that's why MSTRKRFT and The Rapture got 2 hour sets.

First off, like I said before, either Les Claypool isn't playing at 2, or he's playing the Main stage. Do you see how his billing just doesn't make sense for Outdoor at 2? maybe we should not trust that "confirmation".
